A Lesson Plan In Builting Self Esteem

A Lesson Plan In Builting Self Esteem

Self-esteem by definition is the way a person perceives the self. Those who have a strong belief in one’s capabilities are able to succeed in just about anything while those who don’t will experience a lot of difficulty in life. Self-esteem is not something people are born with. This has to be developed and if parents are not able to do a good job, perhaps a child psychologist can help where this is lacking. Building a self-esteem lesson plan takes time. The way to approach the problem will be through a test. The system itself as many doctors admit is not perfect but this is better than nothing for those who need help. The exams given by a psychologist is divided into sections. The patient will respond by ranking each question from highest to lowest, selecting an answer from four possible choices, filling in the blanks or completing the sentence. Here are the seven categories being used by psychologists to come up with lesson plan. First, there is procrastination. People have different work habits. There is the go-getter and the one who will start something but will not be able to finish it. The results of this category can help a specialist figure out a way for someone to be enthusiastic about studying or doing a task. There are many what if’s in life. Those who know what to do will just go for it while others will hesitate first and then just go with the majority. A lesson plan can be developed to empower the individual to take risks. A certain outcome that happened before many change this time around and no one will know unless the person tries. Everyone makes mistakes. This is all part of being human. But those who have regrets are frozen in time without the ability to move on. The psychologist may make a lesson plan that will enable the patient to let go and be ready for life’s challenges. One mistake some people have is generalizing. It is bad to do that because it denies the person the chance to know about someone’s character. This is usually caused by trauma so the specialist can also make a lesson plan to exorcise the ghost and forget about the past. Anger is one issue that some people have. This is the reason some are sent to anger management class. By knowing what makes the person agree, the psychologist will be able to understand and change that. There are people who are outgoing when it comes to meeting new people while there are those who are shy. This will mean someone will have more friends than the other person. Psychologists can make a lesson plan so that the individual will be able to have lasting relationships with members of the same or opposite sex later on in life. The last portion simply asks the question if the person is happy with everything that life has offered. Some people will say satisfactorily given that the individual may not have that dream car or job. However, there are those who feel bitter so the specialist can make a lesson plan pointing out the nice things that have happened which makes it not that bad after all. Those who answer the questions will probably do well in some of the sections and perform poorly in others. There is always room for improvement and growth and this should be what the lesson plan is all about.

10 Steps, Obesity, Overcome Your Personal Battle

October 26th, 2008 by admin

Fighting obesity can be difficult not only physically, but psychologically as well. Failed attempt at losing weight can take its toll on your body and mind and it is crucial to prepared mentally and physically in order to successfully lose weight. The Live programs and their support system focus not only on creating an excellent fitness program, but invest a lot of time working with clients on the psychological side of fighting obesity. The following is a set of steps, some in preparation and some to be used through out the program to ensure success.

1. Recognizing the programs that run you

What are the things that hold you back? What are the excuses you make? What are the behaviors you engage in that keep you from obtaining what you want? People always say “Commit to change.” Well easier said than done. It’s very difficult to commit to going somewhere when we don’t recognize where we are or where we’ve been. I learned that programs are the hard wiring within you that drives your thoughts and actions. Programs certainly can’t be changed overnight, but you can reflect on what hurdles you create that make it difficult for you to be successful with your weight loss goals. Lack of self confidence can lead to procrastination and excuses. This is a program that affects many. Recognize your programs, behaviors, and attitudes and you’ll better understand where you’ve been and where you are. Then you can move forward and begin reaching your goals.

2. Commit

Do what you say you are going to do. Have a plan and commit to executing it. Make your goals realistic, focus on short achievements, and celebrate small successes along the way. Have a goal of consistency. Your plan should include committing to consistent activity. Make a goal to drink 8 glasses of water a day or have a goal of adding a vegetable to every dinner meal during the weekdays. Success in these short term achievements will reap rewards in your long term weight loss goals.

3. Support system

Success is easy to attain when you have people around you. Tell your family, friends, co-workers that you have a weight loss goal, and let them help. Work with a Personal Trainer or Registered Dietician and let them help. A support system can come in the form of encouragement, companionship, and accountability, and can make your road to weight loss success much more enjoyable.

4. Sensible goals

Know your body, and be honesty with yourself about what is real. If you haven’t already, consult a physician regarding what is realistic. You can also test to rule out any obstacles medically related to weight loss such as under active thyroid or food allergies that could inhibit your weight loss.

5. Consistency

Most important to any exercise program is consistency. With a little consistency you can develop habits, and then you’ll be less likely to regress. You will reach your weight loss goals faster when you stay on track and don’t let your hurdles get in the way. This goes for your diet as well. It’s ok to have a cheat day, but make it just one. If you are consistent, you will get results.

6. Use portion control

5 small meals a day is the best way to speed up your metabolism, regulate blood sugar levels, curb hunger binges, and ultimately lose weight.

7. Eat fiber rich foods

Foods that are rich in fiber tend to be filling; therefore people will feel full and not eat as much. Studies have also found that a diet high in fiber can reduce the risk of heart disease, digestive problems and diabetes.

8. Cut calorie dense foods

Foods that have a high content of salt, sugar and flour can also be densely packed with calories. Twizzlers have over 250 calories in a small package, a half order of pasta with Alfredo sauce has 680 calories at many Italian chain restaurants, and a bagel has over 300 calories without cream cheese or butter. High salt content is found in calorie dense, low fiber, processed foods. Too much salt can lead to elevated blood pressure and is also associated with hindering weight loss.

9. Have an activity

There is no better way to maintain consistency in reaching your health and fitness goals than having an activity. When you enjoy doing something, it isn’t work anymore. Activities such as hiking, swimming, cycling, racquetball and rock climbing are great examples of activities that can add versatility to your fitness program.

10. Work Hard!

Losing any significant amount of weight is not easy. Any good program will have a nice mixture of high and low intensity workouts with rest cycles built in. But I have seen too many people going through the motions of a workout and they never even break a sweat. Your body will respond to the stimulus that you create and will respond to loads and intensity. To keep your body from hitting a plateau, you must constantly challenge your body and find new ways to create stimulation to adapt to. With constant stimulation and variety will come consistent results.

Advertising, You Must Have Patients For A Successful Health Care Business - Here Is A Tip

October 25th, 2008 by admin

This may sound like a silly statement, but it is true. Health Care providers cannot help someone if they don’t come to see them. Well, duh! Why would I even mention that? Because one problem that many people have is that they put off going to the dentist or doctor. They are too busy, or too nervous to make the trip. Procrastination could be considered a serious health threat. There is a way to make it easier for potential patients to make and keep appointments. And Just What Is That? It is the simple refrigerator magnet. Yep. A common household item that you either hand out at the office or send via the mail can give people the incentive to pick up the phone and call your office. Regardless of how it gets to their home, the magnet is a constant reminder of your office or facility. Studies show that as people continually see promotional products like these, that they become more comfortable with it. The phone number gets etched into their memory, or the logo becomes familiar, or the services mentioned on the magnet are logged away in their mind. When the day comes that they need health related services, they’ll feel more at ease calling you. It’s simply human nature. There are many styles. Some are direct mail products that have a business card style magnet adhered to a postcard. The recipient peels it off and sticks it to the fridge. Calendars are another popular product, as are unique shaped magnets. Some are cut like feet, others are in the shape of hearts. Many more shapes are available, too. As mentioned already, the direct mail products are very effective in reaching new patients. The other styles are great for handing out at health fairs or at the office after an appointment. Regardless, the fact that these simple and inexpensive products can keep patients coming back and staying healthy is worth every penny you spend on them. ———————————————————————————————————— Robert is currently working for Healthy Promotion, a supplier of top quality magnetic promotional products for the Health Care Industry and Business. Procrastination = Fear of Failure

October 24th, 2008 by admin

Procrastination by the exact definition is simply the act of putting things off for another time which is the obvious bit. Defining why people procrastinate have many different answers but on that comes up often when people come to understand their procrastinating tendencies is that they put off a task again and again because procrastination = fear of failure for them and many others.

Some may hide it behind a facade of laziness or being too busy but the reason so many people put things off again and again is that they are scared that they will not succeed and this will prove them to be a loser or something similar. This may not apply to procrastinating about doing the dishes which probably is just laziness but for major things like looking for a new job even if you are desperately unhappy with your current job or perhaps starting a fitness regime. In the end most of these activities people procrastinate about do involve a risk whether it be time lost, money lost, or a loss of face they all come with an element of risk. Even if the current situation is even worse in the long run the fear of perhaps proving they cannot do something will stop them even trying!

So what can you do about this? Well the easy answer is to say “just do it” like the Nike ads but if it was that easy procrastinators would have worked that out already! Instead, many people realize that their procrastination is all about fear and preconceived notions and these are barriers that are stopping them from achieving success. “Knowing is half the battle” is a more apt saying to overcome procrastination and overcoming a fear is a daunting problem for most. So before you undertake any action to overcome procrastination try to understand the subconscious barriers you have that will trip you up in any attempt to succeed.

Procrastination = fear of failure = fear of risk and loss.

Losing Weight’s not Difficult…..You Are

October 19th, 2008 by admin

Losing Weight’s not Difficult…..You Are

Are you also one of the “unlucky ones” for whom no diet seems to work? No matter what you do, and how you go about it, you just can’t seem to “get it off”. Have you ever noticed that every diet you attempted, you chose because of the results it produced for someone else? Have you ever considered the fact that you might be your own problem? Old habits, stubbornness and procrastination could lead to self-sabotage, keeping you from achieving success in losing weight.Your habits were formed over a period of many years. The fact that they sabotage your success in losing weight, does not make them any easier to break, or break loose from. A simple habit like having a glass of milk before bedtime can upset your total intake for the day, and waste your efforts. Stubbornness has been the downfall of many people taking on many different challenges. Some people simply refuse to eat certain foods, because of personal taste. Some people refuse to get more active, because of the old “it’s just not me” attitude. Some people simply refuse to accept that a certain drink, food or snack is not acceptable during a weight loss campaign.Procrastination is the worst enemy of all. The approach of being able to postpone things you do not feel like doing, usually ends up in it not being done, It can be as simple as waiting too long to drink your next glass of water, which has been proven to assist weight loss, or waiting too long to become more active, to the point that you eventually skip your “active session” for the day. What you do with your life is your choice. What you do, or don’t, is entirely up to you. Just bear in mind that weight loss requires change. You will need to change habits, attitudes, and priorities. In short, to make a change, you need to change.

Get Organized For the Health of It by Colette Robicheau

October 15th, 2008 by admin

Did you know that your chaotic routine and cluttered physical and mental environments may be making you sick or keeping you sick? Everyone can benefit from a more organized lifestyle which will help your days run more smoothly. Taking care of ourselves, our careers and our relationships can leave us with little time to relax or to do some of the things that are really important in life. Eliminating clutter from our homes, offices and lifestyles will help eliminate undesirable stresses on our bodies. An improved living and working environment will elevate one’s overall well-being. We didn’t learn organizing skills at school and many of us didn’t get an organized model from our parents or guardians so getting organized has to be a more concerted effort. Consider what improved organizing skills can do your you.

1. Reduce stress. Do you regularly spend a great deal of time trying to find things? If each day starts with a mad dash for keys, home work, your purse or brief case think about the undo stress this puts on you and how there could be more pleasant ways to begin you day. It can often become a down hill cycle that leads to increased procrastination and anxiety. Are you chronically late for appointments or do you miss them all together? At work disorganization costs employees and employers over an hour a day in productivity and labour costs by attempting to locate something in your filing system, not finding the number to call someone back and a general lack of skills to get projects and work completed. The costs on the health side equal missed work though stress, high blood pressure, lack of sleep and much more. When you’re organized, you give your mind, body and soul the best chance to be relaxed and reenergized to approach the next day. You prepare for the next day and get to bed at a time and a pace that will give you the rejuvenation you need.

2. Improves relationships. Don’t think that you are the only one affected by disorganization. Improper scheduling and routines affect those closest to you– friends, families and colleagues. It not only is an aggravation but in the worst case scenarios can actually terminate relationships. Friends don’t want to meet you for a coffee because you are always late or constantly canceling, your boss has had it with your work never being on time. At home there can be embarrassment for your children and spousal relationships are often severely strained. Getting organized not only allows you to follow through on the commitments you make to the people in your lives but it also lets you create the quality space required to nurture such relationships. Research shows people live longer that socialize more –keep your network of friends.

3. Breathe better. Ninety percent of the average Canadian’s time is spent indoors, and air pollution is often two to five times greater indoors. Dust, dust mites, molds and contaminants from many of our household products trigger adverse reactions in varying degrees for most of us. A cluttered environment makes it difficult to rid our homes of certain irritants and a simplified and back to basics approach will often help to create a healthier home. Start with your bedroom because this is where we spend most of our time. Declutter, have soft furnishings that are easily washed and think carefully about what you allow to be in this very important space.

4. Exercise more. Being disorganized is exhausting but the trouble is it often doesn’t burn any extra calories or have much aerobic value. Studies show that extra stress could actually lead to holding on to some of those calories in storage. Organizing your daily events allows you to plan when an exercise routine will best suit your schedule. Don’t try to haphazardly fit your walk, sports activity or gym visit into your schedule. To set yourself up for success, take the time to plan your weekly work out schedule. Keep your workout time written down on your calendar so that you stop procrastinating or assume you will just squeeze your workout in.

5. Eat better. When we start to eliminate toxins and irritants in our homes it is easy to continue this pattern by looking at the foods we eat. Education is key- reading labels show you what additional additives are in your food and also makes you more aware of calories, fat and fiber. The fuel we feed our bodies determines how it will operate. Providing our bodies with the proper nutrients, unprocessed food and variety in food sources allows us to function more productively. Getting organized allows improved purchase, preparation and meal planning – the key ingredients to a healthier diet.

6. Reduce accidents. An organized home is a safer home. Lessen minor accidents like spills and drops caused by rushing or not having cleared spaces. More dangerous can be a fall, especially for seniors, and the consequences of too much stuff can create the inability to quickly get out in the occurence of a fire. Also, massive clutter can actually be the root cause of such a deadly event. Car accidents are increased from hurrying because of being late. Studies are also showing the lack of focus while driving and being overtired can be just as dangerous as driving under the influence.

7. Handle loss and emergency. Loss of a loved one or pet, divorce and separation can throw havoc into anyone’s lifestyle. If you are already maxed to the hilt and living in chaos this can become more than one can bear. Being able to access relevant paperwork and important documents is crucial. Also important is emergency planning for storm related consequences like power outages.

8. See clearly. A simplified life allows you see what is really important to you. By eliminating the physical and mental clutter you can focus more, spend more quality time with those you care about and accomplish what might once have only been a dream. No longer will clutter run your life but you will live your life with intent. By organizing and decluttering your living spaces and simplifying your lifestyle you can create a new, improved, healthier you.

Health, Overcoming The Fears You Have

October 15th, 2008 by admin

People live every day in anxiety. Fear of losing their wealth, anxiety of losing their loved ones, anxiety of making the incorrect decisions, worry of being themselves, fright of upward up, panic of making a commitment. The file goes on and on. The principal produced of people not fulfilling their dreams is NOT the terror of crash; it’s the anxiety of star! The worry of actually accomplishing what they set out to do. The fright of living life to the fullest may have paralyzed you. This will affect you to never actually try in your custom, or if you do try, to sabotage your labors so you never have to face your dread of triumph. Most people live their lives in the grip of this terror and they aren’t even informed that it has contained over them! The horror is the one thing that could become your dreams of financial openness, loving relationships, and a fulfilling and significant life into a sample of lifestyle including procrastination, nature-sabotage and other bad lifestyle. Fear is the dominate riddle in your life nowadays. The two questions you hardship to answer for dominate your nightmare are: Which nightmare has the most oppress over your deeds? Is it the nightmare of failure, the panic of rejection, the worry of star, or is it all of them? How do I interrupt the bad practice that I have urbanized as a means of protection from this nightmare? How do I interrupt the programming I have within me? These are the two most significant questions when it comes to overcome your fears. If you can answer these two questions, your life will eternally change! The reality of anxiety is that it is being and is a part of life. It’s not vacant to go away. Some anxiety is even healthy! It is a gift given to you to keep you protected and give you closer to your maker. Every anyone is intuitive with three instinctive fears. These are: panic of lessening, horror of loud noises, and alarm of abandonment. These three fears were given to you to help you observer what is going on around you. Think about it; it is phobia that gives you the adrenaline blow that makes you breakout from a position that is certainly, actually unsafe. It also gives you the same draft that causes you to fight to win. Faith is untaught in alarm. God knew in His unbounded wisdom that nightmare is what would chauffeur His people back to Him. Although sometimes it is only in times of great dread that we look to God and want Him. Take a look at your own life and think about the times you looked to God for His intensity and wisdom. Those were doubtless times of extremist concern. True assurance is born from nightmare! So what caused the gift of terror to be the number one obstacle in citizens today? Why do people let dread restrain their actions, beliefs and lives? The answer is the difference between reacting to panic and acting in horror. It has everything to do with your belief logic. Children typically counter instinctively to terror, which is appropriate actions at this age. Most adults don’t make the distinction between reacting to terror, as, when they were a spawn, and acting with their intellect when selling with fear. People counter instinctively to fear by either denying it or operation away from it. They lose the strength that comes from acting with their intellect, never allowing the fear to become the gift it was proposed to be. Learn to act with your intellect by exposing your true fears and the beliefs they signify and released yourself so you can move on with all you are destined to do, have and become! Read about list of phobias and commitment phobia at the Phobia List website.
