Blackhead Removal and Extraction

A blackhead is a type of pimple that forms when the pores of the skin get clogged with oils and impurities. A dark collection of sebum, dead skin cells and keratin that plugs the opening of a pore. Also called an open comedone; plug comprised of yellow or black material that accumulates in the sebaceous glands. A non-inflammatory acne lesion that is filled with excess oil and dead skin cells.Wash your face twice a day morning and night. And if you get to them pop them it’s just like popping a pimple. Cause blackheads start from clogged pores like pimples.Mix baking soda and witch hazel/or water together until it comes to a good constancy, and then spread on your face and leave it on for 10-15 minutes. these two things are very inexpenisve and it’s very easy to do since there is only two ingerdients. The pore strips are simple and pull the blackheads right out. What you do is first cleanse your face with a face wash. Then, dry your face with a clean towel. Then, wet the spot on your face where the blackheads are. You then place the strip on there for 15 minutes, pull off, and you will see all the blackheads the the strip pulled out for you. You will use these every 3 days and see less blackheads instantly. You can exfoliate using salt and a bit of water. Make a paste and really give your face a good scrub. Steam your face to soften both the skin and the material blocking the pores. Rub oatmeal paste on face, leave it to dry for 15 minutes before washing off with cold water. Beat white part of an egg. Add one teaspoon of honey and with a cotton swab, apply it on face. Keep it around half an hour and then rinse with warm water. This is also good for blackheads and dark spots.Apply a good quality medicated cream or gel containing resorcinol, salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide. The Things You Shouldn’t Do If You Have Acne by Jason Rickard - ArticleCity.com

October 29th, 2008 by admin

There is so much going on about acne that sometimes you don’t really know what to believe. The biggest problem is that left with no one solution you get confused and try several solutions at one time. Then to your dismay none of the solutions work. To treat acne you have got to be aware of what’s causing it, what is making it worse, and what makes it better. With the right knowledge at hand, you will know what it is that is causing the acne, so you automatically avoid it. This knowledge can give you a head start in your pursuit to eliminating acne.

First and foremost, you must change your sleeping conditions. I do not mean you pursue a new style of sleeping but instead simply the environment on which you sleep has to be clear of bacteria. If you think about it for a moment you will realize the one thing that most puts you at risk during sleep is your pillow. Can you imagine how much bacteria is on your pillow cover? Every time you go to sleep you expose your facial skin to your pillow cover and bacteria are exchanged from the pillow cover to your face and from your face to the pillow cover. Knowing this, you should never sleep using the same pillow cover twice. Change it everyday. As simple as it may seem, this is one of the main places you acquire acne. Ever wondered why even after applying all the prescribed creams you still wake up to find a new pimple in the morning? Now you know why. By the way this goes the same with your towel.

Acne as harmless as it may seem, is actually very contagious. Meaning if you rub it from one area onto another, it will grow in the new area. So at all times you must avoid touching and rubbing your face. This is not easy, believe me I know but this exercise can teach you self discipline. Even while you’re washing your face try to keep the rubbing to a minimum, you don’t want it moving from one place to another on your face.

Although highly controversial as to whether it is true or not, you should watch your diet closely. Some foods have been reported to increase acne activity and you should stay away from these types of food. This mainly includes junk food and deep fried fatty foods. Try to go vegetarian while you have acne yet you can still eat fish, but at all costs avoid any high fat foods.

When using a doctor prescribed medication or treatment including ointments, then by all means stick to it. Sometimes and very often, most acne balms dry out your skin, so try to visit the doctor on a regular basis. Never overdose as this will cause really adverse skin reactions and try just stick to the program. It usually takes anywhere from three to four weeks before you see any results so be patient and as mentioned before don’t over do it thinking it will get rid of the acne faster.

The above are a few very simple things most people overlook. If you can avoid what has been outlined above and do what was suggested, then your acne will decrease rapidly. Don’t try to rush the results, patience and persistence will eventually pay off with clear facial skin.

Prevent Acne on Your Skin

Prevent Acne on Your Skin

The outright truth is that acne is unattractive, disgraceful and painful for anyone to want to suffer from its imprisonment. It commences at puberty in many victims then stops during early twenties, and then shamelessly returns at old age. Nonetheless; it is not all people who suffered from acne since their teen age will be released from this agony at some point in their lives, some will tolerate it forever. Today though, there are many medications aimed at healing acne, some works marvelously while others accelerate the problem, but this does not mean you should not prevent acne.If you had acne previously, currently or have never had it, your aim must be to prevent acne on your skin, because as long there is a skin nearby, the causative bacteria p. acnes will for all time hang around it. Prevention therefore will include all the measures that you must take to ensure that you stay away from acne bacteria wrath because one thing you must understand is that your skin plays the host role. However this role might turn bitter to you when the intruder decides to show gratitude by devouring the same skin’s sebum (a secretion of the sebaceous glands at the dermis). What makes the problem worse are the enzymes released by the same bacteria as it eats thus causing more irritation to the pimple of whatever kind.In order for you to do this, you must learn to maintain high sanitation standards of your skin at all times, understand your skin type and the products that are specially made for such. The dry, oily or a combination of the two is the most desirable for the bacteria as opposed to a normal skin. They say that a healthy looking skin will say much about a person’s lifestyle and to some extent this is true. if you want to prevent acne at all times, then start by checking your diet, and if its is not balanced, then ensure you make with a special supplements of vegetables and fruits.Again if you are the dormant type, who prefers working indoors all the time, it is high time you do something to treat yourself. Nothing comes so easily, not before you break your back trying to achieve it, simply learn to value exercising your body, not only to maintain a healthy weight but to allow free circulation of air. The other thing you should ensure is ensuring that before you purchase any cosmetic, you find out which skin type it was made for and for what purpose. Most products for acne are made to unclog the congested pores, others to reduce sebum production and yet other are made to kill bacteria. One can be lucky to have no pimple ever in their lives but this is rare, at least one will one will not hurt. If you catch one, make sure that you do not pop it open because this will attract more germs to make it worse. You must also make sure that, stress and anxiety is far because this will show on your skin. At all times find coping skills that will enable you to deal head on with your problems and if you can not do any thing about them, then let go. Adopt an open- minded personality instead.

Acne and Infections

October 28th, 2008 by admin

Acne and Infections

Acne is originated when sebaceous glands inside the hair follicles (pores) of the skin become plugged, because secretion appears faster than the oil and skin cells can exit the follicle. The plug causes the follicle to bulge (forming whiteheads), and the top of the plug may darken (forming blackheads). If the plug causes the wall of the follicle to break, the oil, dead skin cells, and bacteria found normally on the surface of the skin can invade the skin and create small infected areas called pustules (also known as pimples or “zits”).

The actual pimple is commonly the result of bacteria entering an open skin pore making the body to react with millions of white cells to destroy the invaders. As these white cells fight and die they make an inflamed patch that turns red (pimple) which over time turns an even greater mass of dead cells that can create a pus pocket (white head).

Of course open pores can also be blocked with dried sebum, foreign matter or just facial dirt that create what is usually called a black head. Salt from sweat is another contributor to many facial break outs when it dries and blocks pores. Acne bacteria within the blocked follicle worsen the already delicate skin.

If these infected areas are deep in the skin, they may enlarge to create cysts. A sebaceous cyst appears when the sebaceous gland continues to secrete oil. Instead of rupturing the follicle wall, the follicle continues to enlarge and make a soft, pliable lump (known as a cyst) below the skin. The cyst is commonly not painful or discolored unless it becomes infected.

Acne in adolescents

Acne is most common in teenage boys, but it can appear in both genders and at all ages. The tendency to form acne is inherited. The condition usually starts at puberty and may continue for many years. Three out of four teenagers have acne to some extent, most likely caused by hormonal variations that stimulate the sebaceous (oil producing) skin glands. Other hormonal changes that occur with use of birth control pills, menstrual periods, pregnancy, or stress, also aggravate acne.

Acne is not initiated by dirt or physical activities, but dirt and oil on the face can aggravate the condition. Other factors that elevate the chances of acne are stress, hormonal fluctuations, oily skin, exposure to weather extremes, certain tumors, endocrine disorders, and the use of certain drugs (such as testosterone, cortisone, estrogen, and others). Acne is not contagious. A tendency to have acne may persist through ages 30’s to early 40’s.

Prognosis Acne is commonly chronic from adolescence to adulthood, but eventually lessens. Acne usually responds well to any treatment after a few weeks, but may flare up from time to time. Acne is not medically dangerous except for untreated, severe infection. Scarring may appear if severe acne is not treated. Fortunately, you can turn to acne scar treatments to help you with this matter.

Acne and Adolescents

Acne and Adolescents

What causes acne? When pores become clogged with oil and dead skin cells, bacteria called acne that are already in the pores begin to increase. This leads to pimples and cysts. There are four classifications of acne. Some people may have more than one type.BlackheadsThe mildest form of acne is blackheads. While oil and bacteria are found in blackheads, it is the skin pigment keratin, not dirt, which caused the dark appearance. Because blackheads have an open pore, inflammation rarely occurs.WhiteheadsWith whiteheads, the trapped oil can rupture the hair follicle. Bacteria normally residing there may weaken the follicle wall. These same bacteria may produce special enzymes that make the oil more irritating to the skin once it escapes from the follicle.PapulesThe result of such inflammation may be papules. These raised, red, tender pimples can be as large as the blackheads. Unlike whiteheads or blackheads, pimples contain a small amount of pus. This pus is a byproduct of the body’s attempt to ward off the infection responsible for the pimple in the first place.Pustules, Nodules, and CystsSimilar to papules, pustules contain more pus. Solid raised lesions, nodules are often bigger than half a centimeter in diameter. Unlike pustules, nodules are rooted deeper in the dermis layer of the skin. Movable, sometimes painful, pus-filled nodules are the hallmark of severe cystic acne. This type of acne is most likely to leave scars if not treated properly. What warrants treatment?Whiteheads and blackheads may be treated at home. Cystic acne generally warrants medical intervention.Acne has a big effect on body image for teenagers. For some, this self-consciousness can turn into an obsessive preoccupation with their skin. Treatment will vary from person to person, depending on the severity of the acne and the psychological effect. What treatments are available? For some, mild acne may be controlled with over the counter preparations containing benzoil peroxide, sulfur or salicylic acid. These kill the inflammation inducing bacteria, which prevents new pimples from forming. They may also act as a drying agent to help control the oil, or as an exfoliating agent, allowing old skin to come off and open the pores. These agents come in different concentrations and forms. Each form and concentration may affect individuals differently. Higher concentrations are not necessarily better, since these can also inflame the skin. A pharmacist can discuss possible side effects. With any treatment, four to six weeks is generally needed for any improvement. It takes four to six weeks for the average pimple to develop and since most treatment is aimed at stopping development, it will take at least that long to see results. It may take up to three months for acne to clear significantly.Product reviews: acne-stop.com

Acne Treatments - How can you Get Rid Of Acne without the Unwanted Side Effects?

October 28th, 2008 by admin

Acne Treatments - How can you Get Rid Of Acne without the Unwanted Side Effects?

Apart from the visible signs, acne affects the sufferer psychologically, causing embarrassment and anxiety. These individuals usually have a poor self esteem that can eventually lead to depression and withdrawal from social life. Once a pimple appears on your skin, you are convinced that it virtually distorts your face. You try to use all kinds of methods to hide it, using concealers, creams and soaps and if this does not work, you will hide yourself. This is not healthy for your skin or for your mind. So what options are there?

Treatments for Acne

Standard blemish treatments prescribed by doctors usually come in the form of antibiotics or hormone treatments. If the outbreak is severe, it can lead to acne surgery or laser treatment.

Side effects are the main downfall of these types of treatments. For example, women who take birth control pills realize that antibiotics inhibit the pill’s effectiveness. Furthermore if you use antibiotics for a very long time, it can actually cause a bacterial resistance, making acne bacteria immune to the antibiotics.

Hormones found in oral contraceptives are also prescribed to women who suffer from acne. However, it may take around three to six months to see their full effect and its use is limited to women who do not smoke, have a blood clotting disorder, are younger than 35 or have a history of migraine headaches, unless authorized by a gynecologist or doctor. Hormone treatments also come with adverse side effects; these include irregular menstruation, breast tenderness, headache and fatigue.

Normally in severe flare-ups of acne, laser treatments and surgery can be carried out on the skin. This procedure is quick, but it takes a few days to completely heal. However, the results of such treatment are really good as the aspect of your skin will significantly improve. The main problem with these types of treatments is the economical factor, as they are extremely expensive. In most cases, the process has to be repeated on a weekly basis.

Do we really need all this? Is all this extra distress necessary? Do we really need to experience side effects voluntarily? There must be some other alternative.

Types of Eczema

October 28th, 2008 by admin

Types of Eczema

Eczema is an inflammation of the skin, which results in itching. You will lose the smoothness and suppleness of your skin, to be replaced by a harder, flakier type. If you have an existing allergy then this may be the cause, or it could be something that is hereditary. However, there is no exact reason for this disease. Eczema comes in many forms. Here are the types of eczema. STASIS ECZEMA –Those who experience varicose veins are prone to this, and it also affects the legs. The result is possible irritation, inflammation and staining. ATOPIC ECZEMA – This type of eczema is prone to babies that are between 2 and 18 months, though in rare cases sufferers may complain of this at different ages. It is caused by inheriting the condition and is, on the whole, the most common type of eczema. Weeping sores can appear when the infant scratches the small pimple that arises: affecting the face, the inside of the elbows and behind the knees. Apply petroleum Jelly in mild cases. Severe cases require corticosteroid ointments. A medical practitioner can prescribe medicines such as antihistamines, to reduce the itching and irritation. It is also advisable to keep the baby cool and only use cotton clothing to avoid irritationNUMMULAR ECZEMA - In this type of eczema, circular scaly patches or spots may arise anywhere on the skin. Nummular eczema occurs mostly in older people as opposed to children or teenagers, and a reason is yet to be discovered. Application of Corticosteroid ointment on the affected skin may reduce the irritation, but this is unlikely to cure the condition. Symptoms can be seen on hands and legs. Itching is common in this disease. The skin will become a reddish colour, and rough. HAND ECZEMA - This type of eczema will arise on your skin due to exposure to detergents or washing up liquids. A common preventative method can be to wear rubber gloves if you are likely to be exposed to such chemicals; this is also advisable for keeping hands in a good condition anyway. This may lead to burning and cracking of the skin. You can treat it with hand creams and, in severe cases, corticosteroid ointment.Eczema can differ in circumstance and appearance. It can be mild, moderate or severe. The skin becomes red, dry, warm or itchy in milder cases. Creams and lotions are suitable remedies in the less serious cases. It can transform to being very inflamed, cracked, itchy, scaly, crusty or bleeding. Your skin will look worst at this stage. If you are suffering from wet eczema then you might experience bleeding and weeping fluid from the patches. This is also called as weeping eczema. Sufferers of this may feel a sense of shame or awkwardness.Dandruff, or adult seborrheic eczema, can appear on other parts of the body. Those between 20 and 40 are the most probable victims of this. The other type is varicose eczema, which is commonly found in elderly people. In middle age you may develop discoid eczema. Contact eczema may arise when a person encounters an allergen. Acids or chemicals, especially those that are particularly harsh, may cause a bout of this. The name of the eczema suggests the method of developing it.You may identify the type of the eczema you are facing. Consult a good doctor and go ahead with the treatment.

How to cure acne depends on your choice

October 27th, 2008 by admin

How to cure acne depends on your choice

The information on how to cure acne is essential to those who have been downtrodden by it for an enduring time as well as those who get one pimple at a time. A single pimple on the skin of a sophisticated woman leave alone men is a sufficient yardstick to measure her sanity levels. Women generally have so many health issues ranging from breast cancer to reproductive issues that result in embarrassing symptoms and it is hard to tell when they are sick. But when it comes to acne, especially on her beautiful face, where she cannot hide it, she would rather run away if possible to the wonderland, if rumors has it that the acne wonder drug has been spotted there. If you talk about beauty, then she is good at it and you can be sure acne to her is simply ugly and must be avoided like plague. The beauticians have even been criticized to hold a misconception that black skin is unsightly and thus they buy chemicals to breach their skin and to clear pimples. And when time comes when they cannot afford this expensive treatment, their skin turn worse than crocodiles scales!People, who have got severe problem with acne, will do almost anything to discover the best method on how to cure acne. When we think of cure, then scars at any depth, pimples and blemishes of whatever kind comes in mind. The treatment for acne that has been proven to work has been made to deal with all the underlying causes and results of severe acne. The first cure one could prefer to try for their acne is the medical prescriptions, because one can always go back to the same doctor if by any chance they have forgotten the set of instructions or they are not delivering results as per planned. But then some of the auxiliary ingredients to such drugs at the point of manufacturing them are dangerous chemicals that bring about grave side effects to the users afterwards. So I would advice to try home remedies that are natural if you happen to have discomfort with the prescription drugs and you will not be sorry having taken this step. You could also combine both of the cures at the same time. Prescription drugs could also be very costly for you to afford especially if you have chronic acne disease.Over the counter drugs is the next method on how to cure acne infections. Over the counter cures for acne illness, are made from chemicals and some natural ingredients. This therefore means that those people who are disgusted by having to take these home remedies in their very natural form can obtain them in a tablet form. This is the very reason people will run to the shop first especially if they are not first time sufferers of acne infection and therefore familiar with the initial signs of this problem. This option too offers variety of choice as opposed to prescription medicines because one may buy them voluntarily depending on their financial potency. A medical doctor can limit a person to antibiotics alone while if they were left to treat themselves, they could purchase even creams leave alone the tablets and use them concurrently.

5 Destructive Cold Sore Stages

October 27th, 2008 by admin

Cold sore stages normally follow a predictable pattern, but they may be slightly different for you. Let us take a look.

The most desirable of all stages of a cold sore, if there is such a thing, is the latent stage. The herpes virus is asleep and hiding in the nerve ganglia. There are no symptoms and no problems. Nearly a third of all who are infected with these herpes simplex viruses will never experience the active cold sore stages mentioned next. A blood test would be the only way of knowing if they carry this virus, or its anti-bodies. For the rest of us, read on.

THE 5 ACTIVE COLD SORE STAGES YOU NEED TO KNOW:

1. PRODROME - During this beginning stage of a cold sore, the herpes virus senses the conditions are right for successful replication. It will then wake up and move to the surface of your face through the fibers of the nerve it originally picked as home. You can actually feel the virus movement as a tingling, itching sensation. Some report a burning or dryness. The next stage will occur anywhere between 2 hours and 2 days. You can delay, or even prevent, the virus from replicating by applying a good treatment at this stage. My suggestion is to get ice on the target area as soon as you feel these warning symptoms.

2. INFLAMMATION and PRE-SORE - During this stage of a cold sore, the virus particles enter the nerve cells. The irritation causes swelling and redness. The sore vesicles appear. These are small pimple-like red blisters that break out individually or in groups. They are quite painful to the touch. Additional symptoms that first appear at this stage are headaches, fever and swollen glands.

3. OPEN SORE - At this stage of a cold sore, the vesicles break open and merge into a single, big, open ulcer. This is probably the most painful stage. It definitely is the most contagious stage as a clear fluid weeps from the sore. This thick fluid is absolutely teeming with new virus that can easily infect another area of your own body, or someone else. Do not touch the sore with your fingers - use an alcohol soaked tissue. And do not kiss anyone, anywhere.

4. CRUST AND SCAB - At this cold sore stage, a yellowish crust or scab will form over the open wound. Still very painful at this stage, it is even more painful when you move your mouth and the scab cracks. Also, highly contagious fluid will weep out each time. As new skin forms under the crust, itching, pain and much discomfort will continue. The scab may fall off and re-form one or more times during this healing period. The herpes virus is now retreating back into hiding until the next opportune moment.

5. POST SCAB AND FINAL HEALING - At this cold sore stage your scab is gone and the new skin is visible. Under the new skin, however, healing continues as the millions of destroyed cells are replaced. There usually is redness in the area until this healing is complete. This could take from 2 to 15 days, depending on your healing speed and any concurrent stress situations. The waiting makes this the most frustrating stage of a cold sore.

These stages and symptoms occur over a period of about three to four weeks, depending on your current health level, stress, and the care you apply. They are not pleasant and can be dangerous if caution is not taken. Careful personal hygiene and maintaining a high level of social responsibility will greatly reduce the risk and effects of each of the cold sore stages.
