8 Steps For Avoiding Constipation

October 29th, 2008 by admin

Many people suffer from constipation and, in fact, it is so common that you might think it is normal and cannot be avoided. But this couldn’t be further from the truth, constipation is not a normal state it is a direct result of you lifestyle you lead which includes the food you eat and those which your diet lacks. Luckily, you can avoid constipation and here are nine things you can do to ensure that your digestive system always runs like clockwork.

1. Get enough fiber. I’m sure you’ve heard this one before, but are you really getting enough? The average adult should get 25 to 35 g of fiber a day and if you aren’t eating a lot of fruits, vegetables and whole wheat products then chances are you are getting way less than that. Fiber helps add roughage to your bowel movements and aids your bowels in working correctly so it is vital if you want to have regular movements and avoid constipation.

2. Get enough fluids. If you don’t drink enough fluids, your stools will become hard and this will make it more difficult to have a ball movement. You should drink at least eight 8 oz glasses of water a day and avoid caffeinated beverages as these do nothing to add water to your intestines where it is needed most.

3. Dieting? If you are on a diet that has you eating foods you are not used to or foods that don’t have a lot of fiber such as some of the low-carb diets that put a big emphasis on protein than the changing your eating habits as well as the lack of fiber can be causing constipation. Make sure you get plenty of fresh vegetables and fruits every day.

4. Medications. Many medications cause constipation so if you’re on any medicine it’s a good idea to check it to see if it is constipation causing. If it is, you’ll want to counteract it by adding even more fiber into your diet and making sure you get enough water to correct.

5. Pregnancy. Pregnant women often suffer from constipation due to the many changes going on in their body. The best way to combat this, and also the healthiest way, is to get a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet as well as drink a lot of water.

6. Decrease your coffee consumption. Caffeinated coffee can cause you to become constipated because the caffeine acts as a diuretic and causes water to be lost in your urine instead of placing the water in your colon where it can help solve your stools.

7. Distress. If you’re stressed out than chances are this can be adding to your bowel problems. Try practicing stress relief by taking a hot bath, doing yoga or just relaxing in front of the fire.

8. Exercise. Exercising is a great way to get everything moving and help relieve constipation. Walking is especially good as the gentle rocking motion can help stimulate your bowels into action. Try taking a half-hour walk every day it is many health benefits not the least of which is helping you to avoid constipation.

Constipation doesn’t have to be a way of life. If you live a healthier lifestyle with lots of fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains and avoid package and processed foods as well as include some moderate exercise and you’ll find that you become more regular as well as healthier.

Treat Eczema Naturally - How to Bring Relief to Your Skin

Living with eczema is tough stuff (at least when it flares up). It’s one of those skin disorders that can be irritating and incredibly painful, but it doesn’t have to be that way all the time. As you know, there are many different treatments out there, but the problem with most medicines and creams is that they only treat the symptoms of eczema. That’s right - They only treat the symptoms. So while you’re itching and pain may temporarily subside when these creams and medicines are applied, it won’t actually clear up your eczema! What most people also don’t realize is that some medicines and creams can actually make symptoms in some people even worse! Imagine having your eczema flare up, then when you apply medicine and expect relief, it takes an opposite turn and actually worsens! You’d be surprised to hear how many people this actually happens to.So, what am I trying to say here? Try treating your eczema naturally! Have you ever considered doing so? The results might be more than what you would’ve expected from regular over the counter medicines or prescriptions creams from the doctor, not to mention that natural methods used to treat eczema are much cheaper and more effective.Did you know that salt is actually an effective treatment for eczema? Not table salt, but epsom salts work great. While this isn’t the exact “cure” for eczema, it definitely is a great treatment that will help relieve the symptoms of your eczema, which will bring relief to your skin, but in a more cost-effective way! Now, I was an eczema sufferer for years, wasting money on all sorts of medicines, creams and treatments, until I finally found a cure. The best part? It was all natural. Learn more about how to cure your eczema at Cure Eczema.

Top 4 Disadvantages of Lasik Eye Surgery

October 28th, 2008 by admin

Top 4 Disadvantages of Lasik Eye Surgery

In previous articles, I have written about the advantages of Lasik over other forms of eye surgery. But as with everything else in the field of medicine, there are some disadvantages as well. Here are the top four disadvantages of Lasik surgery:1. Repeat SurgeriesThis could be viewed as both a pro and a con to having Lasik. This type of eye surgery doesn’t always produce the optimum level of vision correction on the first attempt. So additional follow-up procedures may be necessary to further improve the patient’s vision. That’s the down side. The up side is the very fact that patients may undergo repeat treatments for even better vision. Of course, with each additional procedure, there is an extra medical bill as well.2. A Lot of AftercareAfter a Lasik procedure, a patient will have to follow a regimen of medicine usage, as well as close monitoring by the eye surgeon. In some cases, this aftercare process can go on for several months. While this post-Lasik treatment can certainly be inconvenient, most patients view it as a small price to pay for better vision.3. Potential Halos and GlaresIn some cases, patients of Lasik surgery experience glare or halos around objects, especially at night and in the days immediately following your procedure. The most common reason for this is a corneal flap that did not adhere correctly after it was replaced by the surgeon. In most cases, halos and glares will subside within the first month after surgery. In other cases, additional treatment is needed to correct the problem.4. Not Always Covered by InsuranceInsurance companies are seemingly random when it comes to Lasik eye surgery. For everyone company that covers the procedure, there’s another company that does not. Some insurance providers consider Lasik to be an elective surgery that is not necessary (since the vision problem can be corrected with glasses or contact lenses). If the provider does not cover the surgery, then the patient must either pay out of pocket or switch insurance companies altogether. All surgeries have their pros and cons, and Lasik eye surgery is no different. If you are considering this type of procedure, there are several key actions you should take. Educate yourself about the process, ask your surgeon plenty of questions, talks to your insurance company about coverage and, ultimately, make a well-informed decision.

The Various Genital Warts Medicine Treatments Available

October 28th, 2008 by admin

The Various Genital Warts Medicine Treatments Available

There are different ways that you can contract genital warts just as there are many different genital warts medicine treatments available. Actually, it’s probably a tossup as to which one comes out the clear winner in sheer numbers. For one thing, genital warts medicine doesn’t need to be restricted only to medicinal and surgical treatments. They can also include such things as natural remedies, herbal remedies, holistic approaches as well as alternative genital warts medicine treatment methods. Of course not everyone feels comfortable with going down this particular route and will instead stick to the more normal practices of scientific genital warts medicine. For other people however, for whom these standard methods of treatment have waned over the years, the alternative approaches to genital warts medicine treatments is just what they needed. The problem which arises here is not that of these alternative approaches being wrong or unduly dangerous. It lies instead in the fact that most people will try and treat themselves without having first obtained a proper diagnosis. This might be stating the obvious, but not having gone through the rigors of medical school yourself, the average layperson is in no way qualified to diagnose and treat themselves. Besides which, if you resort to taking over-the-counter medications to treat your genital warts you are not using proper genital warts medicine. The over-the-counter medications which can be readily found are not suitable due to their strong nature and should not be used as a genital warts medicine. Proper genital warts medicine can only be obtained through a prescription, and even then you will find that the medication needs to be applied by trained medical personnel. Also, these types of genital warts medicine cannot, in just about all of the cases, be used by women who are pregnant as the medicine can have a harmful effect on the unborn fetus. The same applies for people who have other underlying medical conditions which will prevent them from taking the prescription genital warts medicine. On the other hand, if people are looking for a readily available genital warts medicine which is also all natural, they have no further to look than their kitchen. Garlic, and Vinegar is the order of the day, along with such items as Onions, Shitake mushrooms, Apple juice, Pineapple and even Green tea.All of these ordinary items can be turned around to help you fight off the HPV infection. They are all good genital wart medicine treatments and can be used without fear of side effects. That is of course if you’re not allergic to any of these ingredients!

New Technique to Reduce High Blood Pressure Fast

New Technique to Lower Blood Pressure Fast

By Barry Shore

It has now been proven that Paced Breathing and Hand Squeezing exercises lower blood pressure. Anyone can do it. Positive results happen quickly. Immediate lowering of blood pressure can be seen right after doing the exercises, but sustained results take from a few weeks to several weeks to achieve.

Several companies have developed apparatus to aid in these exercises. Resperate uses an electronic device to track breathing. It teaches you to breathe slower and deeper. ZonaPlus also uses an electronic device to track and teach Hand Squeezing exercise. Each of these devices cost several hundred dollars.

BPDown combines both Hand Squeezing and Paced Breathing exercises using tension squeeze balls and a counting technique for breathing. This apparatus costs only $49 and offers free shipping. The website is bpdown.us.

All three companies have sold several hundred devices and feedback appears to be very positive.

My wife and I are the owners of BPDown. Our Ebay rating as of today is 271 and 100% positive. My seller name is shore29 and I encourage you to read the comments at Ebay.com from our customers.

Not only is the BPDown system much less expensive, but it actually works faster because it combines both Hand Squeezing and Paced Breathing into one exercise program. Also, because it can be done without electronic devices (though a CD is included) there is nothing to wear out or break. Plus the tension balls are so compact you can take them anywhere and do the exercises using the counting techniques when you are riding (not driving) in a car or other vehicle, waiting for an appointment, watching TV, etc.

My personal blood pressure used to be as high as 180/90, even with taking medicine. My doctors cure was more medicine, which I actually tried and it didnt work very well and sometimes had side effects. I researched extensively and learned about the Hand Squeezing and Paced Breathing research. However, I balked at spending hundreds of dollars.

After 6 months of experimentation testing various tension devices and numerous breathing techniques I discovered the exact combination for fast positive results. In fact, for most people, blood pressure reduces significantly after the very first usage. It takes just a few weeks of daily use, about 12 minutes a day, to sustain lower blood pressure for a whole day or 2. After that, usage may be reduced to every other day, but only if blood pressure continues to stay down.

I still take 1 or 2 Metoprolol (100 mg) a day which is a beta blocker and available from Wal-Mart at $4 for 60 pills, and I do the BPDown exercises every other day in order to maintain my blood pressure below 129/65. I have been tested as low as 109/64. My pulse is usually about 55.

I believe the $49 price for BPDown makes it affordable for most people. Keeping blood pressure low may be the most important factor to reduce and prevent heart failure. I urge everyone with a blood pressure problem to try BPDown. Youll be glad you did.

Get Prepared For Natural Cures For Acid Reflux

Get Prepared For Natural Cures For Acid Reflux

Natural cures for the acid reflux condition are mainly the target for many people nowadays compared to the expensive medicines prescribed by doctors. These natural cures work as well as any other medicine used to treat acid reflux if not better. People have decided to stick with them because they are cheap and most importantly, they do not have hidden side effects accompanying them something that cannot be said about medicines. Some of these natural cures commonly used to deal with acid reflux include the following.Cider vinegar is one natural cure used to treat acid reflux. The vinegar is made from apple juice and is said to be good for digestion. It works by ensuring that food in the stomach is properly digested as it is supposed to. This mechanism helps the digested food not to be taken back into the esophagus and possibly end up back flowing to the throat. As this digested food stays in the stomach as it is supposed to, the acid is also forced to stay inside there too as it does not have a possible carrier to the throat and this way acid reflux is avoided. However due to the fact that cider vinegar has high levels of acidity, it is recommended that it should be consumed in little quantities.Body exercises help a lot in cutting down excess fat and calorie content which is not needed anyway. This helps you prevent any possibility of amassing unwanted toxins in the body. When these toxins are plenty in the body, chances of being pushed up back into the esophagus and even to the throat is very high. These toxins most of the times will carry with them stomach acid which when allowed to reach the throat may cause a burning sensation. To prevent all this, try to watch out on your weight and keep fit at all times. An anti oxidant known as Amla is another natural cure used in treating acid reflux. The anti oxidant is used to bring down acid levels that you may be having in the body. By this i mean, less body acid remains in the stomach and makes it difficult for it to flow up towards the throat thus preventing any chance of acid reflux from occurring.Another well known natural cure for acid reflux widely accepted by people is the use of the acid reflux pillows. Here, the main aim is to try and ensure that head elevation is achieved when sleeping. This inclined sleeping position will go along way in stopping any body acid especially gastric acid from reaching the throat. This is simply because, when the acid tries to find its way up the esophagus to the throat, gravitational pull generated in the stomach pulls the acid down back to the stomach hence ending up preventing acid reflux.Given these natural cures for the acid reflux condition, it will be a disappointing situation to see you suffering in silence as you avoid trying out these remedies thinking that it is an a shaming affair while we all know that it is not and that you might actually get help by trying them out.

Before Cosmetic Treatments

October 28th, 2008 by admin

Before Cosmetic Treatments

Cosmetic surgery has become a common practice among both surgeons and patients. There is no shortage to the number of reasons a client may choose to undergo the surgery. The advance in this field of medicine has made it possible for many to resume normal lives after a disfigurement or accident. There are many sides to the cosmetic surgery coin of course. Some merely want to preserve their youth or remove some scarring. Whatever the reason for the procedure, there are many things a patient needs to know before consenting to any form of treatment. Both invasive and non-invasive surgeries have potential risks and limitations. New patients should seek out a referral from their family doctor. This can help avoid any potential scam doctors seeking naïve patients. It might sound like something out of a scary movie but there are cosmetic surgeons who have been discovered practising without appropriate licensing or training. Don’t be a victim of one of these scam artists. Always do your homework to be absolutely certain that you know who you’re dealing with at all times. Trusting someone with your well being should require more than simple paperwork. Ask to hear testimonials from previous patients and see all necessary legal documentation.Knowing all potential risks is the first thing patients need to be clear about. Not all procedures are the same. A laser cosmetic treatment will be vastly different from an invasive one such as a facelift. It’s unacceptable to be uninformed. Some procedures will have a handful of risks, some of them seriously harmful while others may be virtually risk free. Learn all that you can about a given procedure before you even consider having it done. You may find that some risks just aren’t worth it. Infection and scarring are realistic possibilities. Having something turn out completely different than you’d hoped can be traumatic. Check what your options really are. You might find that you’re a prime candidate for a non-invasive treatment rather than a traditional type. Lasers can be used for everything from wrinkles to birthmarks. Discover the options available to you and you may be able to greatly reduce your recovery time. Solid facts are necessary when making any decisions that affect your health. A great laser surgeon will be able to provide you with all of the information you need regarding your selected treatment during the consultation. Never hesitate to ask anything. There is no such thing as a stupid question, especially when it’s your well being at stake. Make sure you know it’s something you want. Regret is a sad thing when a permanent change has been made. Are you prepared for the results if they turn out less than you had expected? It’s a realistic possibility that has to be factored in. Look over before and after photos of previous patients. This can aid your choice. The main thing is that you’re happy with your decision and don’t get left in the dark. Spend some time thinking about cosmetic surgery before making any appointments. There really is no need to rush.

How You Can Avoid Plastic Surgery Disasters

October 28th, 2008 by admin

How You Can Avoid Plastic Surgery Disasters

Perhaps you have some small lines around your eyes and the creases of your mouth that you wish to get rid of. Or maybe you have a more serious need for skin treatment like sun damage or a tattoo removal. What ever your need, there are several options to choose from but not every surgeon will do the best job. When choosing the skin and hair specialist you are going to trust with your body, for your own safety there are some things you must make sure of when you are looking around. State Licensing Before you agree to have treatment done, make sure the center is licensed within the state the center is operating in. You can also find out this information by checking with the state board of medicine to see if the center is licensed by the state. Training How long was it that the medical director and certified technicians had proper training? Is the staff committed to learning new procedures and certification of new equipment as well as treatments? What is each person%26rsquo;s certification background including where they graduated from laser hair and skin school? Medical Director/Certified Staff Is the center operating under the license of a medical director? A medical director with the appropriate credentials, such as a 4-year medical degree should be involved. A medical director of the center is ultimately the person responsible for the safety and wellbeing of the patients under care in the facility. What about the staff? Are they all trained and certified? How long have they all been practicing? Knowing everyone%26rsquo;s credentials will put you at ease. Malpractice History/Coverage By simply checking the internet or making a trip to the courthouse, anyone can look up a physician%26rsquo;s malpractice history if there is one. The center you are looking to have treatment done should be able to tell you the malpractice insurance they have. Treatments Available Besides knowing all of the skin and hair treatments and procedures that are possible through the center, what is their opinion about alternatives? Once you go through consultation, a trained and licensed practitioner should be able to give you several recommended options, not just the most radical and expensive procedure. Referrals/Internet Comments Perhaps the most important of all is a company%26rsquo;s reputation. Ask around, look up reviews and opinions online. Are people happy with the price, the procedure and customer service? Researching treatment centers as well as alternatives will help you avoid an emotional, costly and horrifying plastic surgery disaster. Doing your homework ahead of time, could save your life in the future.

Medication Options For People With Autism

October 28th, 2008 by admin

Medication Options For People With Autism

As with any illness, disease, or disorder, there are a number of medicine options available to help control these symptoms. It is important to remember that none of these medications will “cure” autism; they simply help control some of the effects of the disorder. There are advantages and disadvantages to each drug, as they all have side effects as well as benefits. When choosing medicines to effectively treat autism, your doctor can make recommendations, but since autism is a disorder which varies from person to person, you should use drugs very carefully, watching to see how the body reacts to the treatments. First, consider the safety of the drug. Some cannot be used in children or in people under a certain weight. Make sure the dosage is easy to understand and before you choose one medicine or another find out how it is administered (pills, injections, liquid, etc). This is important if you are not comfortable with certain methods, such as injecting yourself or your child. Also find out how safe the drug is to individuals who do not suffer from autism. If you have small children in the house, you’ll want to be sure that the drug is not lethal if it gets into the wrong hands. Find out what to do in case this happens, just to be on the safe side. Also consider the side effects of the drugs you are considering. While they may be very good at controlling aggression, responsiveness, hyperactivity, or other autistic tendencies, they may also cause sedation or other side effects such as nausea or dizziness. Weigh your options carefully before beginning one of these treatments, or you could find yourself with ten bottles of pills, each taken to counteract the side effects of another. Also remember that medications may have long-term effects. Will you or your child become dependent on the drug? Will you be tolerant? How else will it affect the body over time? These are all important questions to ask your doctor before beginning any medication. You can research the many studies on these drugs at your local library or on the Internet. Publications such as journals and healthcare magazines are probably most current and most reliable, whereas you may get some altered information on the World Wide Web, so be careful about following advice you find without first consulting your doctor. He or she may also be able to provide you with literature about the medication options available for autistic patients. Do your researching on the many choices before making any decisions, and you’ll be able to better control your health.
