How diabetics manage their diet

How diabetics manage their diet

Exploring The Diabetic DietWhile millions of people fight a daily battle with their weight, those who are inflicted with diabetes have a more difficult struggle. Not only are they trying to keep the unwanted weight off; their condition forces them to adhere to strict dietary guidelines. Doing otherwise could literally put their lives in jeopardy. If you’re diabetic, your insulin levels control much of your life. When your body can’t produce enough insulin, your blood sugar levels can spike. If that happens, you may have problems with your feet, eyes, kidneys and other parts of your body. It can even lead to persistent digestive problems and issues with your teeth and gums. The foods you eat (and when you eat them) play a key role in maintaining your health and vitality. For this reason, experts have created a diabetic diet that is designed to help you manage your health while enjoying a normal lifestyle.Special Needs Require A Special Diet PlanWhen you’re suffering from diabetes, you need a diet and fitness program that includes regular exercise and foods that can provide your body with what it needs. According to the American Diabetes Association, you should receive over half of your daily calories from carbohydrates. The remaining calories should come from fats (30%) and protein (20%). Most of the foods you consume should come from meat, starches, fruits, vegetables and milk. Unfortunately, controlling your blood sugar levels requires more than merely a menu. You need to eat at the same time every day (as much as possible). You also need to eat approximately the same amount of food each day. You should be exercising during the same time each day, too. Your body needs consistency in order to regulate your blood sugar levels. Each time you eat, your blood sugar levels increase. Eating a large meal at one time of the day, then eating a small meal a different time the following day prevents your body from regulating those levels.Things To Avoid To Stay HealthyBeing diabetic, it’s critical that you keep your blood sugar levels from spiking too high or dipping too low. Avoid eating candy. Once in a while should be fine (check with your doctor), but it’s recommended that you stay away from sweets. You should also avoid drinking large amounts of alcohol. Typically, your liver turns carbohydrates into glucose and sends it into your body when your blood sugar levels drop. When alcohol enters your liver, it stops producing and distributing glucose, preferring to get rid of the alcohol quickly. If your blood sugar levels drop too far, this can lead to hypoglycemia.Ultimately, if you’re diabetic and you’re trying to lose weight, there is a way. But, you must stick close to a diabetic diet that emphasizes regular exercise and frequent meals. Your insulin and blood sugar levels determine your health. Eat plenty of fruits, vegetables, fats and fish.

Diet – Does It Really Helps in Losing Weight

Diet – Does It Really Helps in Losing Weight

What is a diet? Does a diet really help you lose weight? Are they healthy? People today get confused when they hear the word “diet”. They usually think that it always applies to some special plan of eating which is intended to help people lose weight.Doctors prepare lists of foods intended to accomplish some goal other than weight loss, and the word would be applied to that list of foods. Today the word has come to mean a special list of foods you can or cannot eat if you wish to lose weight. Many of these have achieved almost mystical status and many have their own followings. Just witness how far the Atkins and South Beach Diets have extended themselves in our society. I am sure you remember such exciting diets as those centered on specific foods which practically guaranteed weight loss success - You could eat grapefruit, cabbage soup, or you could enjoy the promised effects of the negative calorie diet. Most have these have faded away for three basic reasons:1. People got tired of eating the same thing meal after meal.2. They were unrealistic in their expectations. How could you get cabbage soup when on vacation, or at a business luncheon.3. Most of the time, they simply didn’t work. While “going on a diet” for a short period may produce a small loss for some people, dieting is simply not the answer to a lifelong weight loss problem. If you are just a few pounds overweight and want to drop a few dress sizes by the wedding in two weeks, a diet just might do the trick, and, for that short time, you will probably be able to stick with it as long as you keep your goal in sight. The downside of a diet is threefold:• The effects are not permanent or life changing• It does not contribute to health and vitality• It may actually contribute to weight gain• True, permanent weight loss for health and fitness hinges on three central points:• Regular physical activity• Periods of rest• A sensible dietWhen you diet realize that for your health and for permanent weight loss, you must do more. If you do choose to go on a diet, please take a daily multivitamin to help replace the nutrients you are missing

Best Colon Health Tips To Keep You Healthy

Colon health tips can save your life. There are different colon cleansing programs that you can find on the Internet as well as different products, some more effective than others. But then again, the effectiveness of a given cleansing product or program depends on the individual as it may work for you but that doesn’t mean it will work for me.The best colon health tip you can get for free is to follow a colon cleansing diet to clear up your colon. We are living in a toxic world, but that’s because we have made it that way with our constant pollution of the environment. Point is that at some stage in life, those toxins reach a level so high that can be dangerous for you health. Unless you eliminate them, those toxins will continue to increase and build up on. A colon diet will kill the harmful bacterias slowly helping you restore your health and vitality. Those diets usually focus on high intake of fibers. A person needs around 30 grams of fiber per day. To achieve this amount, eat more vegetables, fruits and whole grains.Processed and cooked foods are not recommended, as the amount of quality ingredients is decreased to minimum (especially in processed foods) while the toxins are high. Therefore, try to eat as much raw food as you can. Cooked foods require more time for the body to digest them. Make your own fruit juice instead of buying it at the store and make sure you add the pulp. Reason why is that fiber helps people with colon troubles is that the fiber adds mass to the stool and absorbs water to soften the stool. Here are some other useful tips. The main thing is to drink a lot of water. Whenever you feel tired, drink a glass or water. You should be drinking about 4 liters of water every day. Tip number two is to take Ester-C supplement every day in the morning. Vitamin C has a positive effect on the immune system. Eat broths, and stews, because they provide electrolytes, which will energize you. Make detox baths. Try do avoid over-exercising. And remember, never do anything stressful, or frustrating when you’re cleansing. Don’t over-eat as you body already has a problem digesting food so don’t make it even harder for yourself.A lemon detox diet can do wonders for your health condition. The main goal of a lemon diet is a detox through a colon cleanse. As with any detox diet, releasing toxins in the body is serious business and should not be taken lightly. Add a colon cleanse to your lemon diet, because a lot of toxins will be released by your body during this phase.

Abhyanga NYC in Beauty Life

Abhyanga NYC in Beauty Life

Marma is discussed in one of the four main Vedas, and also detailed in the classical Ayurvedic text, Sushrut Samhitá. The marma points are similar to Chinese acupuncture, only no invasive use of needles is involved. Marma points are positions on the body where flesh, veins, arteries, tendons, bones, and joints meet. They may be seen as the junctions where Vayu, Pitta, and Kapha meet; where sattwa, rajas, and tamas meet; or where eternity and relativity meet. Abhyanga Massage is an oil massage traditionally done by two practitioners performing the movements simultaneously. Herbalized oil is chosen for your specific constitution and plenty of it is used. The focus of Abhyanga is to improve circulation, eliminate toxins and boost immunity. The treatment should leave the recipient feeling revitalized. It is usually followed with a steam bath called Swedhana .The oil is applied by light friction and gentle pressure with specific strokes designed to stimulate, clear and balance the energy patterns of your body-mind. The treatment stimulates lymph and blood circulation and supports hormonal balance. It helps strengthen all the tissues of the body thereby supporting the immune system. Since the quality of Vata is dry and cold, a warm and oily massage provides an ideal balance for Vata types, though all types will notice increased health and vitality, especially during Vata season. The massage soothes the nervous system and the endocrine system, since skin produces endocrine hormones. When you are ready, start the massage at your head. Drizzle a small amount of oil onto your scalp and massage it in with the palms of your hands. Use a clockwise, circular motion. Then gently massage your face and ears. If you have oily skin, avoid those areas that are prone to breakouts. Massaging the ears is excellent for balancing VataDrizzle some oil in your palms and massage your neck, then move to your shoulders. Use a circular motion on your joints - shoulders, elbows, knees - and long up-and-down strokes on your limbs. Please Purchase Online http://ayurvedasbeautycare.com

A Look at Scar Removal

A Look at Scar Removal

Most people are no stranger to scars. The majority of us carry around souvenirs of childhood wounds in various places on our bodies. While some people are very prone to scarring and result in scars from minor wounds, others may experience little to no scarring at all. This is due to biological factors and can vary greatly from person to person. Though some scars are small and blend in with the skin, others are a nightmare to live with. Extremely bad scarring can be enough to cause a real problem with day to day life. The laser removal of scars is now a realistic everyday option for sufferers. Living with scar tissue can be a painful reminder of an unfortunate accident or other unwanted memory. Scars can be caused by anything from cuts to acne and the reasons to remove it differ among patients. Consulting with a practitioner skilled in laser removal will make a world of difference when it comes to making such a committed decision. Rushing into any form of surgical procedure whether invasive or not is never recommended. It’s essential to be informed about all aspects and details associated with the treatment for your own well being. As unfortunate as it is, not everyone can successfully utilize the laser treatment. People with dark skin pigment are not usually considered prime candidates for laser scar removal. Also those who experience dermatological problems such as psoriasis or eczema often cannot undergo the procedure. Of course this is exactly why a consultation is so necessary. Everyone’s skin varies greatly and it’s impossible to guess what may or may not work for you. Never take unnecessary risks when it comes to something as precious as your skin. It’s the only set you’ve got and all measures should be taken to ensure its health and vitality. Depending upon the type of treatment required different lasers will be used. For example, a procedure to reduce severe acne scarring would employ a C02 laser whereas the PDL laser is used in cases that treat keloid scars. The licensed practitioner of your choice will evaluate your scar and decide which laser would be most beneficial to your particular situation. The length of the procedure depends greatly on the scar being removed. As little as a few minutes or as much as an hour or two can be required to effectively treat the scarred area. It’s considered to be out patient surgery due to the non-invasive nature of the procedure and often only a local anaesthetic is used. Following a laser surgery the doctor will provide you with all of the post treatment information that you will need. Some patients may be prescribed antibiotics or topical cream to aid in the prevention of infection and assist healing though it’s rarely required. It’s extremely important to follow all instructions closely to avoid any delay in the skin’s healing. Avoiding direct exposure to the sun is often a key component of healing within the first few days as the sun can alter the skin’s pigment. Take care of your skin and always have full knowledge of what you are doing to it.

Let Food Be Your Medicine, and Your Medicine Be Your Food

October 19th, 2008 by admin

Let Food Be Your Medicine, and Your Medicine Be Your Food

How an amazingly simple idea could be your key to a lifetime of Total Health and Vitality …

“Let Your Food Be Your Medicine, And Your Medicine Be Your Food.”

We live in one of the most affluent, prosperous, and privileged societies the Earth has ever known. Yet, the overall health and physical well-being of the average American is far worse today than even a decade ago.

For instance:

- Over 66% of our nations adults are overweight.*
- Almost 80 million adults have some form of cardiovascular disease.**
- 10 years ago, America had the 36th longest life expectancy in the world. Today, we rank 46th.***
- Many doctors now describe themselves as sick care providers, not health care providers.

These startling facts raise serious questions about our health as individuals and as a nation. And theyre motivating many concerned Americans to ask …

What can I do to protect myself and my family from this deadly cycle of sickness and disease?

Some nutritionists believe the first step is to determine whether your body is in efficiency or survival mode.

Most people in our society consume plenty of calories. But if those calories are largely empty meaning they contain little or no nutritional value they will trigger the body’s survival responses. So survival mode is caused by a lack of the essential nutrients your body needs to maintain proper health.

A body in survival mode may suffer low energy levels, decreased metabolism, high body fat levels, unbalanced hormone levels, and a decrease in lean skeletal muscle — essentially a weak and inefficient machine.

Efficiency is the state in which your body is getting what it needs, when it needs it. So your body receives the message that it is safe, that food and nutrition are abundant, and youre free to enjoy an active lifestyle.

A body in efficiency mode will enjoy youthful energy levels at any age, naturally increased metabolism, reduced or low body fat levels, more balanced hormone levels, and an increase in lean skeletal muscle effectively a very strong and incredibly efficient machine.

So your goal is to achieve a state of supreme efficiency and avoid lapsing back into survival mode.

But, to move forward, you may have to go backward …

Doctors have been treating the symptoms of disease for years … and the result is our present state of deteriorating health. But what if you could change your starting point? In other words, rather than treat diseases and symptoms after they appear, why not attack the root cause of disease and poor health before they ever have a chance to develop?

Thats where this simple concept … Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food … could provide the answer youve been looking for.

To enjoy living in efficiency mode, you need to follow a program that feeds your body on a cellular level. You must get the proper nutrients in proper form to defend, strengthen, and fortify the body before problems set in.

The Total Wellness and Vitality program from Herbalife delivers all the essential nutrients you need directly at the cellular level, creating a foundation for healthy living and providing all the tools necessary to achieve total lifelong wellness and vitality.

In addition, Herbalife’s program helps shield and protect your cells against the harmful effects of stress, pollution, and environmental toxins.

And finally, at Stage 3, youll enjoy the Total Wellness and Vitality that comes from committing to and following a sound cellular nutrition program. And it all starts with one simple idea: Let your food be your medicine and your medicine be your food.

Colon Cleansing For The Best Health by Mike Vincent

October 17th, 2008 by admin

As with any part of the human body, we need to keep the colon healthy. One way to do this is through a process known as colon cleansing.

I’ve found that a system called the Almighty Cleanse is a most effective way to do this.

So, why do we need to cleanse the colon?

The colon, better known as the large intestine or large bowel, is the part of the intestine from the cecum to the rectum. It plays an important role in the body, because it rids our system of toxins, fecal matter and waste while absorbing water and nutrients. One will find a very delicate balance of bacteria in the colon, which assist it in its processes. If this balance is disturbed out of sorts, normal colon functioning can be inhibited.

My research shows that many adult Americans have a colon that is indeed out of balance, a colon that is not functioning to an optimum level.

As your colon is responsible for eliminating all waste from your body, it is critical to maintain a healthy colon in order to enhance your health and vitality. In a clean colon, elimination occurs on a regular basis. When your colon becomes impacted or full of material, elimination becomes infrequent and your body will process fewer vitamins and minerals from your food. This condition is commonly known as constipation.

The reason for this is easy to understand. If the walls of the colon are lined with waste matter, then it’s hard for the ‘good guys’ that is, the nutritive parts of your food, plus the necessary water, to get past this blockage and into your body.

I find that many people still aren’t aware of the need for a clean, and thus healthy, colon. But consider that Americans have the highest rate of colon-rectal cancer of any nation in the world. This type of cancer now accounts for more deaths than ever before in American history.

I imagine that one reason it’s not so popular to talk about this matter is because many people think it’s a dirty subject and some think it’s embarrassing. Well, that can be, but cancer and death are worse. Maintaining the health of your colon can help to significantly improve your overall health and limit the occurrence of constipation and diarrhoea as well as many other health problems.

So, how do we cleanse the colon? There are numerous methods available. Some involve going to clinics where a rather imposing machine pumps your colon full of water and then flushes it out. An enema will also help, but this method would tend to be incomplete.

I’ve found that a good formula that you drink yourself is quite beneficial. A good formula is one that is designed to detoxify, clean out and refresh your body without uncomfortable cramping or loose stools.

It will be made of various herbs that are known to either help to flush out the waste, the faecal matter, from your colon, or to help regenerate the good bacteria in your colon. Experts tell me that some ingredients, all natural herbs, that a good formula has, includes senna, cloves, ginger, psyllium seed and several others.

Along with doing such a cleanse with a good formula, you might want to concentrate, during those days, on eating a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables, perhaps some other good roughage food, and drinking plenty of good water, fresh juices and other healthy drinks.

The benefits to your health are enormous. For example, you’ll find that colon cleansing can help you in many ways, including weight loss, better mental health and concentration, improved digestion and nutrient absorption, better memory and increased energy. It can also give you clearer skin and an overall healthful feeling.

There are numerous ways that you can help your own health to improve or to stay at an optimum level. A good diet, proper rest and exercise and a positive attitude toward life are all very important.

But a colon cleanse, without which many of us won’t be getting proper nutrition, is also a very relevant part of a good personal health regimen. Consider using Almighty Cleanse for this.
