Accutane Hair loss

Accutane Hair loss

Accutane is an often-prescribed medication for severe acne. While there are varying side effects, the concern over hair loss is a highly visible and emotional side effect, once it starts to occur. Many times, it is an added socially disturbing ordeal to a subject, while trying to clear their complexion and rid themselves of painful bumps, they start to lose their hair, sometimes starting up to 3-4 months after starting Accutane.Accutane does not damage the hair follicles, it changes chemical receptors, none of which are related to hair loss. It makes them more responsive, causing a “shock” to the body. A lack of sebum, (oil by follicle production) also occurs. Accutane “dries” oil-producing glands in the body, to dry up the excess oil producing the acne; it also can affect other oil producing glands as well, which includes hair. As the hair follicle is dried up, it loses its ability to continue to “grasp” the hair and it falls out. A new hair starts to be produced, but is a much finer, wispy hair not as strong as the previously lost hair.It is normal to shed hair daily throughout your lifetime. Accutane accelerates the process. In the case of Male Pattern Baldness, (or MPB, as it is commonly called by men), there are only so many cycles of hair loss/replace in a life. Accutane hair loss consumes a cycle and replacement hair comes back fine, or maybe not at all in some areas, accelerating male pattern baldness. These hair losses would still have occurred at a later time, without Accutane influence, but the process is sped up. Some male patients will suffer permanent hair loss in areas due to male pattern baldness, (MPB) and may place the blame on the Accutane, however, once Accutane is no longer taken, hair production cycles return to normal, whatever cycle they are on.Some hair loss patients have taken “mega doses” of Vitamins A %26 C and biotin, with limited success while still on Accutane. Since the liver produces biotin and biotin production is decreased while on Accutane, some doctors have also prescribed protein drinks and “mega” 2.5mg. doses of biotin. Some patients also take these for 2 months following the termination of Accutane.Hair loss will continue for 5 weeks to 5 months following the termination of Accutane. Once the chemical reactors have been changed, it may take this long for the body to change back and the hair loss cycle to complete and move on to the next cycle. Normally, without Accutane chemicals remaining, the next hair cycle will resume to normal, producing normal hair such as what was lost prior to taking Accutane. In the case of male pattern baldness, the hair strength and texture will return to normal, however, if you have baldness in your heredity, you may find pattern baldness has started where there was none before, or more visible, if it had already started prior to taking Accutane. Some patients have started taking Propecia or Rogaine, following the termination of Accutane, to try to repair hair loss, but there are side effects to those drugs also. Without medication, hair production will still return to normal within a year or sooner, on it’s own.

Hair Loss Shampoo: a Good Alternative

October 23rd, 2008 by admin

Hair loss shampoo is one road that individuals with thinning hair choose to use in their day to day regiments. There are many causes for the hair loss such as illness, side effects from certain medicines, major surgery, fungal infections, as well as stress may result in hair loss. Hair loss treatments in these cases may help treat some of these hair loss situations.

But then in examples where the hair losses is driven by hormonal causes, hair loss for the most part is not easily healed on it’s own. Sometimes it can be a result of a genetic disorder, or likely due to stresses from the external environment.

Some women for example may suffer some hair loss immediately after a pregnancy. Hair loss can also be a byproduct of diabets, or anemia. In all these cases it can likely be treated by a doctor if spotted earlier on.

Some clinics in the United States have postulated the reason why some people undergo hair loss is because of an excess of sebum in their scalp which clogs and prevents the growth of new hair. After a while it is clogged so terribly that new hair stops growing altogether.

That is where hair loss shampoo comes into play. These shampoos help provide the right nutritional elements in conjunction with vital nutrients and proteins that will help in treating the condition. There are many different kinds of shampoos around and there is no one-size-fit-all answer. First ask a professional health professional what the causes of your hair loss are before trying different solutions.

Hair loss influences people of all ages, not just old, or middle aged. In fact some individuals in their early twenties and possibly younger have undergone hair loss. Hair loss shampoo is just one avenue among many that you can discuss with your trusted health counsel.

You Can Avoid Hair Loss Simply By Taking Care of Your Hair

October 23rd, 2008 by admin

Hair loss is problem that is linked to a variety of factors, such as age, genetics, diet, and diseases.
As with most things concerning the body, prevention plays a big role when it comes to health. Caring for your hair, keeping it healthy and avoiding the problem in the first place is to treat hair loss.
Brushing and Styling
You can start by brushing your hair. Brushing is known to help remove the dead hair as well the dirt and debris that collected throughout the day.
Daily brushing, besides helping to remove the dead hair and the dirt and debris, also helps in moving oils and nutrients all around your scalp and your hair.
Keep in mind that it is best to not do this for a prolonged period of time. For longer hair, it is also better to use a comb instead of a brush, as a comb won’t rip out the hair. Even when using a comb, it is best to not use it in excess, but rather, only to style hair or to get rid of extra tangles. This will allow the protective coating (the cuticle) to stay in place and continue to provide protection for your health hair.
Go gentle on the curling irons, blow dryers and curlers. The high heat is not good for your hair. It may look good to you that night, but you may be damaging or killing the hairs or cuticles on your scalp.
When your hair is wet, it will be easier for it to stretch and break.
Be careful with the types of products that you are putting in your hair. While most hair products that are used for dying hair are known to be safe, some will contain extra chemicals that can be detrimental. This will then cause the protective layer to be lost and will leave your hair exposed.
Nutrition Vitamins to Help Hair Loss
One of the major reasons hair losses occurs is the lack of nutrients and vitamins in your body. Besides giving you a healthy and great looking head of hair a change in your diet may go a long way in helping you prevent or delay hair loss.
Make sure that at least half of what you eat every day is fruits, vegetables, whole grains, boiled potatoes or brown rice. These are essential unrefined carbohydrates and are a source of energy and B vitamins that are great for healthy hair.
By the way, this is not just for having health hair, it is the basis for a healthy diet.
Do your best to have 15 %26#8211; 20% of your diet be comprised of fish, nuts, grains, seeds, eggs, poultry or dairy products as a lack of amino acids can inhibit cell growth as well as hair growth.
Vitamins A, C, E, biotin, B5, as well as B6 and B12 are all very beneficial to your hair. They all come from food sources. A, C and E can be food in most fruits and vegetables and biotin, B5, as well as B6 and B12 can be found in yeast, grains, eggs, liver, rice, and milk. Also a good multi-vitamin is an additional source.
Along with protein, zinc and other natural sources will help your hair in looking healthier and may also prevent hair loss. Keeping a balanced diet will also be effective in making sure that your hair stays thicker and healthier.
Washing
It is recommended to not wash your hair more than once a day; however, you should wash it at least once a week.
This will allow the dirt and oils to come out of the hair with the proper washings. It will also allow nutrients to move through the hair in order to allow for protection, as well as growth.
If you have a sensitive scalp, you should consider using a softer type of shampoo or one that has specific medication to help your hair.
Oils Treatments for Hair Loss
Various oils have been proven to provide you with treatments that you can use to help with your hair loss. By knowing which oils are available, and are proven effective, you can help in keeping a healthy hair look.
Thyme, Rosemary, Lavender, and Cedarwood are some of the known oils that are often used. All of these oils have essential nutrients that will react with the scalp and hair to allow for new growth and less strain in the scalp area.
For a different treatment, you can use what is known as carrier oils. These will carry the nutrients from the oil onto your scalp. The two well-known oils for this treatment is jojoba and grape seed oil. They are also a natural source for improving hair growth. For those who are worried about putting chemicals on the scalp, essential, natural oils are a good alternative.
The best way to use these types of oils to help with hair loss is to use a specific amount of the oils on your scalp every day. You can easily rub them into your scalp and massage them into the areas that are not growing as much hair. The oils will tell the area to add more hair and will promote stronger hair growth. Using these oils daily is necessary to achieve the needed results.
Oils are a great treatment that can’t hurt your scalp, slows hair loss, and is easy to apply and use.
Don’t hesitate to speak with an aromatherapist as they will have more information for you.

These supplements can contain a host of ingredients, including but not restricted to vitamins and multivitamins, oils such as primrose oil and fish oil, lysine, saw palmetto, horsetail, ginger, green tea extracts, licorice extracts, apple cider vinegar, rosemary, sage tea, psoralea seeds and a whole lot more. All these are totally

They prevent the hair from falling out of the scalp

They allow the hair to regrow from the places they have fallen out from

They make the hair thicker

It’s not just about the herbal supplements, though. Natural cures for hair loss can come in a variety of other ways too. Massage with special oils is very commonly done nowadays. The most common is the Indian herbal massage, in which oils are prepared using extracts of Indian gooseberry, henna, lemon oil, Indian margosa (neem), Terminalia chebula, Terminalia belerica and a host of others.

Then there’s the method of hypnosis also. But this works only in some cases. In some people, hair loss occurs due to stress and depression. Hypnosis can help to treat such cases of hair losses by improving the mental condition.

What are the pros of natural cures for hair loss?

It is the safe approach that makes most people try out the natural cure for hair loss as a first step to their treatment.

What are the cons of natural cures for hair loss?

This is what most manufacturers of these methods will not tell you. Despite the fact that all herbal remedies have been used for thousands of years in various civilizations across the world, there’s no medical certification that they work. Traditional evidences are plenty, but there are no FDA approved herbal remedies available yet.

Also, the effect of all natural cures for hair loss is felt differently in different people. This is because the metabolism of each person is different. In all cases, lifestyle changes are also required to make the therapies work. Like, you may have to make changes in your diet and usual habits.
