Hot Tubs Costa del Sol Spain

October 28th, 2008 by admin

Hot Tubs Costa del Sol Spain
by John Lewis

The Hot Tub industry would not have started but for the input from Roy Jacuzzi and his family and as an insight here is an extract from a Jacuzzi press release dealing with the History of the Jacuzzi Brand.

According to a Jacuzzi, Inc press release “The History of the Jacuzzi Brand”: …begins in the early 1900s, when the seven Jacuzzi brothers immigrated to California from Italy.

The brothers made great strides in aviation by inventing the first enclosed cabin monoplane, which carried mail for the U.S. Postal Service as well as passengers from the San Francisco Bay Area to Yosemite National Park in California.

Incorporating their hydraulic insight, Jacuzzi Brothers, as they’d come to be known in 1920, later made notable advancements in the agricultural pump industry, which led to an invention that remains an iconic fixture in American homes today.

Since then there have been many further developments and one example would be that the Jets designs have increased very considerably.

There is no doubt in my mind that that back in time just over half a century ago (1954) when the Jacuzzi brothers Invented a portable whirlpool pump (simply as I understand it because one of their relatives had arthritis) that they would not have had an inkling that this would go on to form such a large and developing industry.

Hot Tubs are now being made in most western countries to the highest standards and the development of the product continues at a pace. The original Jacuzzi pump, when coupled with jets using an air-injection system, a mixture very similar to a kind of bubbly water-and-air was created. With the natural passing of time, a variety of American manufacturers experimented with methods to propel the air/water stream into the spa with ever increasing digress of pressure and control. Initially spas used a simple idea that involved something like a vacuum cleaner motor but operating as a blower in some ways similar to blowing air into the hot tub in exactly the same way that we as children would have used a straw to blow bubbles in to a glass of lemonade or coca cola.

Again as time passed the designers soon began thinking of things like the venturi principle, in which water is pumped through a funnel-like device to create a vacuum that pulls in air. As the water flow and pressure begins to increase, the jet automatically sucks in more air, which results in a greatly increased water flow and movement not unlike the idea of an exhaust driven turbo charger in a car.

Many Hot Tubs have the ability to bleed air into so that one is able to inject air into the Jets thereby increasing the pressure and movement of the water. Not unlike perhaps a turbo charger on a car.

The pioneering spirit of the original Jacuzzi brothers was alive and well in third generation family member Roy Jacuzzi, who invented the world’s first whirlpool bath in 1968. As a teenager, he started working in the family business in a variety of odd jobs, really learning how the business worked from the ground up. In 1968, his passion for design and engineering emerged when he invented and marketed the world’s first fully integrated whirlpool bath, known as the Roman. Sensing that American consumers were moving toward an emphasis on health, fitness and leisure activities, the determined Jacuzzi peddled his invention one at a time at county fairs and trade shows in California.

At the same time his family members looked on with both surprise and delight, Roy slowly and more or less on his own created a brand new industry.

Quoting the chairman and president of Jacuzzi Inc Roy Jacuzzi. of California, United States of America, Roy said “A venturi system is a conventional approach,” “What I did was take air and water all around that so I was getting a 300/60 air-to-water mixture. “I was actually taking the water and air combination … and exploding that,” he added.

The earliest spas, though, incorporated only enough jets to churn the water.

Quoting another Spa manufacturer Bernie Burba, founder of Baja Products Inc in Tucson, Arizona said “When we first came out with spas, they had two spa jets on them, “Now you see portable spas with 60 on them. You might say that’s overkill, but it isn’t,” he said. “We’ve really learned about water therapy and that lots of jets - lots of water and air moving across your body - is a very satisfying, restful and helpful experience.”

Today, the jets of a Hot tub provide pulsating and soothing massage action all over the body, from stiff necks to sore feet. Hot Tub %26 Jacuzzi style Spa manufacturers now offer various specific jets to help massage the neck and shoulders, arms, wrists, hips and thighs, the knees, calves and feet etc.

Apart from the original idea of being able to combine warm water and air to create the Spa effect there is no part of a Hot Tub that has not had improvements and amendments made to technology and indeed the construction and manufacturing processes used in making a Hot Tub.

Whole industries have been spawned producing the components and raw materials that Hot Tub manufactures require. The Acrylic Sheets that form the Shell the electronic controls the pumps and motors. Each and every American Hot Tub manufacturer has tried to be at the cutting edge when introducing new ideas.

To summarize it pays to buy a product from a leading American or Western manufacturer as clearly they have been at the forefront of developments in this industry for more thsn 40 year and not a cheap import from China no matter how well it is disguised or packaged.

As with most things in life it pays to buy the highest quality that one can afford from a manufacturer who has been established for many decades as opposed to perhaps, secondhand or indeed a cheap import , remember the old adage that buying cheap usually means that you end up buying twice.

So, my best advice, is that one should only buy a product that is well built by an American or Western internationally recognized producer of Hot Tubs and then there is every chance that the product will last and last and give very many years of faultless performance.

The reason is simple in that the internationally recognized producer backs his products with a real guarantee so if it has a fault it falls back on the manufacturer not on you. As you can imagine these manufacturers have had decades of experience and they build them with the proper parts and components so it will not fail and it is for that reason and that reason alone that they are prepared to provide a long life guarantee.

Suffering in Agonized Silence from Your Vaginal Irritation?

Suffering in Agonized Silence from Your Vaginal Irritation?

It would be normal to assume that with the great strides made in the world of medicine these days that such small things as vaginal irritation due to a yeast infection would be all but eradicated.Unfortunately this is just not the case. Medical strides notwithstanding, many women who suffer from a yeast infection also tend to suffer from vaginal irritation as well. This vaginal irritation is of course due to the yeast infection, but since not all medications work to truly clear out a yeast infection for at least a couple of weeks at the very least, you will have to suffer along with it until you are fully cured. And what happens if you get a recurrent yeast infection and suffer from vaginal irritation again? The same thing of course. You take your medication and wait for your infection to clear up, all the while suffering in agonized silence from your vaginal irritation. There are however, other things which you can do to quell vaginal irritation, and these can for the most part be done alongside any medical treatments you might be doing or taking. The first item on the board involves a lifestyle change, whereby you change your unhealthy fast-food high-stress lifestyle, for a healthier option, at least in the food department if not in the life department. Cutting out such things as refined foods, unwanted starchy foods, high amounts of sugar and caffeine from your diet along with excesses in alcohol and cigarettes can go a long way to clearing your body of unwanted toxins. In the same time if you also include unsweetened yogurt, garlic, vinegar and cranberries into your diet you will be help your body to rid itself of the yeast infection and thereby any vaginal irritation that you have. Since this can also take some time to accomplish its goal, you might also want to try something else in the meantime as well. Home remedies as vaginal douches are a good alternative as are vaginal suppositories, and herbal treatments. Some of the most common of these home remedies involves the use of unsweetened yogurt, garlic, apple cider vinegar, cranberries, cinnamon, oregano, and tea tree oil, and not all at the same time of course! One of the best options you have to give you relief from your vaginal irritation is yogurt and you have a few options on how to apply it to your vagina. The first is to coat a tampon in yogurt and insert it into the vagina, and the second is to take a needleless syringe, fill it with yogurt and placing it at the mouth of the vagina, squirt the yogurt inside. Both remedies also call for you to wear a pad to avoid dripping yogurt wherever you go. Another quick fix for you to get almost immediate relief from vaginal irritation calls for a garlic clove wrapped in gauze and tied off with a length of unwaxed dental floss, to be inserted into the vagina.

Causes of Alzheimer’s: What’s Really Known Today

Causes of Alzheimer’s: What’s Really Known Today

For years, the causes of Alzheimer’s disease have been somewhat of a mystery. Doctors and researchers have worked diligently to unlock the secrets of this complex and devastating disease. Fortunately, great strides have been made recently in understanding the causes of Alzheimer’s.Post mortem examinations of the brains of Alzheimer’s patients have shown large quantities of plaques and tangles in the brain. Plaques are deposits of the protein beta-amyloid that accumulate in the spaces between nerve cells. Tangles are deposits of the protein tau that accumulate inside of the nerve cells and become twisted. While the exact cause of Alzheimer’s is still yet to be determined, several risk factors have been identified.Age is the primary risk factor for the disease. Alzheimer’s generally develops in people over the age of 65. Furthermore, as you get older, the risk of contracting the disease increases exponentially. While less than 5% of people age 65-74 have Alzheimer’s, the chances of developing it doubles every 5 years after age 65. Almost 50% of the population over the age of 85 has the disease. While researchers have not identified a gene that directly causes Alzheimer’s, there is strong evidence that there is a genetic component to the disease. The APOE-e4 gene, a sub-type of the APOE gene, has been found in the majority of Alzheimer’s patients. The APOE gene provides the blueprint for one of the proteins that carries cholesterol in the blood stream. There are three types of APOE genes: APOE-e2, APOE-e3, and APOE-e4. The most common form of the gene found in the majority of the population is APOE-e3. As of now, only the APOE-e4 gene has been linked to the development of Alzheimer’s.Everyone has two copies of the APOE gene (one from each parent). People with one copy of the e4 gene are 2-3 times more likely to develop Alzheimer’s than those who don’t have a copy. The rare person who has two copies of the e4 gene (approximately 1% of the population) has a 9 times greater risk of contracting the disease. Also, if you have a first degree relative (parent, sibling) with Alzheimer’s, your chances of developing the disease are up to 7 times greater. This provides further evidence that there is a genetic component to the disease. So if you have a close relative with Alzheimer’s, monitor your memory functioning closely as you get older. It is much easier to delay the progression of the disease if you catch it in its early stages.Serious head injuries, such as concussions, have also been linked to an increased risk of Alzheimer’s.Fortunately, the causes of Alzheimer’s are not entirely out of your control. Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D., President and Medical Director of the non-profit Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation, has found that by adopting healthy lifestyle choices, you can greatly reduce the risk of developing this devastating disease.By lowering your stress levels, eating a healthy diet, and staying physically and mentally active, you can go a long way towards steering clear of Alzheimer’s disease.

Family & Parenting, Best Diaper Brands

October 23rd, 2008 by admin

The need for diapers has been around since the beginning of time. Throughout history, parents have created various versions of diapers using a wide range of materials, depending on the natural resources available. It wasn’t until the 1950’s that the disposable diaper came into being as we know it today. Today there are several diaper brands available that have taken great strides since the diapers beginning. Technological advances in materials used have taken the disposable diaper to a whole new level. In this article, I’ll give an overview of the best brands of diapers available. Pampers is one of the best diaper brands that is the most widely known. It was introduced by Procter %26 Gamble back in 1961 and paved the way for a whole new category of baby products. Pampers has steadily maintained its leadership role in the diaper industry by providing several innovations including a lotion top sheet that protects a baby’s skin and a rash guard diaper which is designed to help treat and prevent diaper rash. Pampers product line includes Pampers Swaddlers, Custom_Fit Cruisers and Baby-Dry with Quick-Grips. Huggies is the second leading diaper brand and is a market innovator as well. Over the years, they have continuously evolved with new diaper products to meet the changing needs. This brand of diaper has made several innovative improvements to provide extra comfort, a more natural fit, reduced diaper rash and improved overall skin wellness. These innovations and benefits can be found in their wide product array including the Huggies Supreme diapers, OverNites, Supreme Gentle Care and Natural Fit. Luvs diapers are another superb quality brand of diapers offering great leakage protection that they back with a satisfaction guarantee. Their diapers feel soft and smell fresh, are very absorbent without a lot of bulk, and added elastic features to make it fit nicely to your baby. Seventh Generation is an alternative diaper brand that has recently gained popularity by the environmentally conscious. This diaper product is chlorine free. They are also non-toxic and not irritating to a baby’s skin. Not only are these chlorine free diapers less harmful to the environment, but they are also gentler to a baby’s sensitive skin. gDiapers are the last diaper brand I’d like to highlight. This baby product is very Earth friendly in that it is a flushable diaper. This is possible because they are made up of biodegradable ingredients that break down in years, not centuries. This alternative disposable diaper brand offers a lot of convenience, less smell, less garbage and no guilt. To find out which brand of diaper is best for your baby, I recommend you try samples of each. There is also a wealth of information and parent groups on the Internet that discuss all the brands above. Keep in mind, a diaper that is suitable for others might not fit your baby’s requirements.

Causes of Alzheimers: Whats Really Known Today

Causes of Alzheimers: Whats Really Known Today
by Susan Nickerson

For years, the causes of Alzheimers disease have been somewhat of a mystery. Doctors and researchers have worked diligently to unlock the secrets of this complex and devastating disease. Fortunately, great strides have been made recently in understanding the causes of Alzheimers.

Post mortem examinations of the brains of Alzheimers patients have shown large quantities of plaques and tangles in the brain. Plaques are deposits of the protein beta-amyloid that accumulate in the spaces between nerve cells. Tangles are deposits of the protein tau that accumulate inside of the nerve cells and become twisted.

While the exact cause of Alzheimers is still yet to be determined, several risk factors have been identified.

Age is the primary risk factor for the disease. Alzheimers generally develops in people over the age of 65. Furthermore, as you get older, the risk of contracting the disease increases exponentially. While less than 5% of people age 65-74 have Alzheimers, the chances of developing it doubles every 5 years after age 65. Almost 50% of the population over the age of 85 has the disease.

While researchers have not identified a gene that directly causes Alzheimers, there is strong evidence that there is a genetic component to the disease.

The APOE-e4 gene, a sub-type of the APOE gene, has been found in the majority of Alzheimers patients. The APOE gene provides the blueprint for one of the proteins that carries cholesterol in the blood stream.

There are three types of APOE genes: APOE-e2, APOE-e3, and APOE-e4. The most common form of the gene found in the majority of the population is APOE-e3. As of now, only the APOE-e4 gene has been linked to the development of Alzheimers.

Everyone has two copies of the APOE gene (one from each parent). People with one copy of the e4 gene are 2-3 times more likely to develop Alzheimers than those who dont have a copy. The rare person who has two copies of the e4 gene (approximately 1% of the population) has a 9 times greater risk of contracting the disease.

Also, if you have a first degree relative (parent, sibling) with Alzheimers, your chances of developing the disease are up to 7 times greater. This provides further evidence that there is a genetic component to the disease.

So if you have a close relative with Alzheimers, monitor your memory functioning closely as you get older. It is much easier to delay the progression of the disease if you catch it in its early stages.

Serious head injuries, such as concussions, have also been linked to an increased risk of Alzheimers.

Fortunately, the causes of Alzheimers are not entirely out of your control. Dharma Singh Khalsa, M.D., President and Medical Director of the non-profit Alzheimers Research and Prevention Foundation, has found that by adopting healthy lifestyle choices, you can greatly reduce the risk of developing this devastating disease.

By lowering your stress levels, eating a healthy diet, and staying physically and mentally active, you can go a long way towards steering clear of Alzheimers disease.

Hair loss treatment - Choosing the Best Option for You

October 19th, 2008 by admin

Hair loss treatment - Choosing the Best Option for You
by K S

When facing the need for hair loss treatment, choosing the best option for you is not always an easy thing to do. If you are beginning to experience hair loss, you need to begin hair loss treatment as soon as possible. Often times men wait until the late stages of their hair loss problem before attempting any type of treatment. Waiting until the late stages of hair loss to begin treatment may hamper the success of treatment. What is important and what you need to know about treating hair loss is that the earlier you begin to treat your hair loss, the better the chances are of you having a successful outcome from the treatment. Hair loss treatment plans are varied and the best approach will depend on the type of hair loss you are experiencing. Treatments may include a form of surgery, different medications, creams, diet supplements, and even a simple change in diet. Determining the type of hair loss you are experiencing is critical in finding the best hair loss treatment for you. If your hair loss is due to a genetic predisposition, then simply changing your diet and nutritional intake may not be the best course of action for you, although it may help to slow down the hair loss process. There have been great strides made scientifically over the years and modern technology has brought forth many hair loss treatment options. Sufferers of hair loss can now take a proactive stance to not only slow down the hair loss process, but in many cases to halt it as well. It is important for you to explore all of the treatment options before deciding on a particular treatment plan to be sure you are using the best hair loss treatment for your type of hair loss. You must also weigh the pros and cons of each treatment plan along with the risks and benefits. Although this may seem confusing, complicated, and even a bit intimidating, it is extremely important. There are many products on the market today sold by a variety of companies. To find the best hair loss treatment you must compare what each product has to offer, their ingredients, success rate, as well as the price, as these vary greatly from product to product. Do your research before selecting any hair-loss product or treatment, and then choose the plan that will best address your particular hair loss. Most importantly, dont give up, even the best hair loss treatment may not work for everybody. While you should get recommendation from your family, friends, neighbors, and even from online product and treatment reviews, it is important to remember that although it may have worked for them, it may not work for you. Be persistent and vigilant in finding the best hair loss treatment for you. Be sure to consult a medical professional to help determine the cause of your particular hair loss and to determine what would be the best course of action. Remember, also, that while a particular product may work especially well for your type of hair loss, the dosage may be very different from person to person. A medical professional can help determine the dosage you will require to have the best hair-loss treatment results. Often times a simple change in diet or nutritional intake can slow down the hair loss process. This is a relatively easy and inexpensive route to go if it is appropriate for you, however, dont be afraid to explore other alternatives with your medical care provider. Be extremely careful of seeking help from those that may not give you the quality or the best hair loss treatment for you.

Improving Patient Medical Education with Video

The era of plain text in medical educational materials is being surpassed by a new medium. If you want to improve educational programs and retention rates, video is an essential part of the plan. We explain why video is so important, especially in the field of medical videos and patient education.

The advent of Google and YouTube has spurred great strides in the feasibility of online video. Videos appear more frequently in search results, and people are starting to take notice. The medium is more likely to draw the user in and keep their attention, so you can relay vital information to your viewer. This will greatly increase the effectiveness of the educational material you are presenting.

There are many ways video is already being incorporated in medical technology. For example, there are many benefits to the use of video capsule endoscopy. A tiny, swallowable device, which includes a light source, an optical lens, a battery, and a transmitter, is ingested. The resulting video sends clearer pictures and helps identify more ailments that were previously more difficult to detect. The procedure is easy to perform, with few complications, and patient approved videos can then be used for further study, research, and in educational materials.

When surgical videos are incorporated in educational presentations, the experience can be much more informative and understandable by a variety of viewers. The viewer is better able to relate to the information being presented, and it’s easier for the viewer to retain images, animations, and graphs, than plain text. Physicians are also able to communicate with patients in a more direct manner, and patients have a face to associate with a name or procedure.

There is no question video is being used more frequently in many research and educational pursuits, and the medical field is helping lead the way. So if you are a physician or medical professional looking to find new channels for distributing information, video is an enticing way to capture and express your procedures and materials. Also, patients can benefit from viewing and learning from these videos. So remember to include video as an essential part of the plan when bringing your profession to the cutting edge of technology.

Crowns Can Make Your Teeth Look and Feel Better

October 15th, 2008 by admin

In recent years, the field of cosmetic dentistry has made great strides forward in techniques and materials, and we can choose from many more procedures now than in years past. Many of us had metal crowns done at one time or another, and these might have been made of: · Gold or gold alloy · Nickel alloy · Chromium alloy · Palladium On back teeth, which do the chewing, a metal crown is sometimes a good choice, as the metal materials are very strong and durable. Disadvantages of old metal crowns · Their color — which contrasts strongly with the white teeth surrounding them · Problems with decay – if bacteria get up underneath the crown, gum disease can set in, requiring the removal of the crown, gum treatment, and a new crown · Wear and tear – older crowns can become worn or ill-fitting Alternatives to metal Porcelain Dental porcelain is a substance with similar properties to tooth enamel. It absorbs and reflects light the way our natural teeth do. Light travels through the porcelain to the bonding material which attaches the crown to the tooth, and then bounces back. This gives the porcelain crown a translucent look very like that of our natural teeth. With tooth enamel, the light travels through to the tooth dentin underlying the enamel, and bounces back. This is what gives our teeth that shiny, pearly look. An all-porcelain crown blends in excellently with the surrounding teeth. Porcelain is highly resistant to discoloration, and when bonded to our teeth, it’s strong and durable. Porcelain fused to metal Porcelain alone is not as strong as porcelain fused to metal. For some people, this is the best choice, because of the extra strength. But the metal backing on the porcelain stops the light from traveling through the porcelain. It reduces the translucence of porcelain and creates an opaque look. This distinguishes these crowns from the neighboring natural teeth. Over time, the metal lining of the crown can start to show, and creates a thin black line at the edge of the crown, near the gumline. The Procedure There are only two visits with the placement of crowns. · In the first visit, your dentist removes a thin layer of the tooth to make room for the crown, and prepares the exposed surface to bond well to the new crown. You will have a temporary crown until the next visit. · In the second visit, the new crown is temporarily attached for fine-tuning, and when both you and your dentist are satisfied with the fit, it’s permanently bonded to the tooth.
