A Great Body Requires a Healthy Diet and Plenty of Exercise

A Great Body Requires a Healthy Diet and Plenty of Exercise

We all want to look like that supermodel in the magazine but we want to be able to eat like the fattest person alive. Obviously, these simply do not go together so in order for us to come to terms with what we want our bodies to look like we must also come to terms with what we allow ourselves to eat. It is really all about changing our mindset and allowing your brain to take charge. You must reprogram your brain, however, to understand that in order to have an amazing body you must be committed to a healthy diet and plenty of exercise. After reading the part about exercise you probably groaned a little bit. I don’t know what it is about people and exercise but there are a lot of fun things you can do that will get your heart beating and help you burn calories. There is no reason to be afraid of exercise or to consider it as something negative. The easiest thing to do is to simply reprogram your mind that exercise is not bad, hard, boring, or difficult to do. It is instead fun, invigorating, and is the key to helping you get that body you want. When you accept these things and really make the changes you need to make then you will begin enjoying exercise and you will look forward to exercising every day. But, the good news is you do not have to hit the gym for two hours a day in order to be healthy. Nor do you need to exercise every single day. As long as you exercise as least half an hour three times a week then you will be doing great. You will find that as you start incorporating these workouts into your weekly schedule you’ll start to really enjoy them more and will continue going to the gym and possibly increase the amount of time and effort you devote to exercising simply because you have come to enjoy it. While you are enjoying your new exercise routine you have probably gained a new appreciation for healthy foods. Eating healthy is really important because it gives your body the nutrients it needs to stay healthy not to mention it makes losing weight much easier. You will notice that when you work out on a regular basis you will be less likely to cheat on your diet because you know how much work goes into burning off a Snickers bar or a box of chocolates. All of these attitude changes come back to reprogramming your mind. Sure, you won’t be able to reprogram your mind in a day. But, you can reprogram your mind in as little as a few weeks. So, go ahead and start making the changes you need to make. Put your mind in control of your weight loss and exercise and allow yourself the opportunity to finally be healthy and have the body of your dreams. The truth of the matter is that you have a choice between feeling and looking great or feeling and looking awful, make that conscious choice to be healthy and fit, you won’t regret it, that I guaranty. After you have been doing these new things for about a month they will come naturally to you. You will not need to be reminded to drink plenty of water or to get active because it will be part of your day just like brushing your teeth or putting on your glasses or even cooking dinner. Creating a new habit is not that difficult. It simply requires a dedication on your part and a commitment. After that, everything will fall into place on its own and you will wind up healthier and fitter than ever with a better body image. And that is certainly worth a commitment to a new lifestyle.

Hypothyroidism Weight Gain by Zandra Jones

October 29th, 2008 by admin

Hypothyroidism weight gain is caused by an under active thyroid. It afflicts millions of people every year. It is a result of a decrease in the production of thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH). The pituitary is the gland that produces this hormone. The thyroid regulates the metabolism which helps to control weight. Without TSH in inadequate amounts, weight gain occurs.

Although hypothyroidism weight gain is very easy to treat with medication, symptoms of gaining weight are often very subtle. As a result, physicians do not look to the thyroid first as the cause of weight gain. Often hypothyroidism weight gain is overlooked or attributed to some other underlying ailment.

In order to get weight gain under control, you will need to work with your doctor to develop a medication and exercise plan. The two are interconnected, meaning that one will not work without the other. The good news is the symptom of weight gain is one of the most treatable afflictions of the disease. It is just a matter of finding the right medication and exercise routine.

When you suffer from hypothyroidism weight gain, it is possible to lead a normal life. Your doctor will order blood tests usually every month for the first six months, then after six months and at one year intervals unless there is a change. This will help to make sure that the disease is being properly controlled.

It is important to notify your doctor if you experience any sudden weight gain as it could be a sign that your medication needs to be adjusted. It is important to notify your doctor if you feel that you are loosing too much weight, as this could be an indication that your medication dosage is too high. This is also very dangerous to your health.

Whether your medication is too high, too low or you are not taking any at all, the possible consequences are the same – heart attack or stroke. So you need to be sure that you follow up on regular blood tests to be sure your dosage is at the right level and stay on a strict schedule with it.

How To Lose Weight Without Leaving Your Home Or Office by Joey Dweck

October 29th, 2008 by admin

If finding time to work out is tough for you to balance, then it may be time to adjust some of your common activities. Despite what many people think, you do not have to dedicate hours of your time or copious amounts of space towards your exercise routine. In fact, for many busy people, exercising has become as simple as squeezing in ten-minute sets of sit-ups or 30-minute sessions at a local gym.

No matter where you work or live, here are some tips to help you fit in some extra weight-loss strategies into your daily routine:

1. Squat often. Many people spend a solid 2-3 minutes twice a day brushing their teeth. As they brush, they stand still in front of the mirror. If you added a few lunges or squats to that routine, then you would spend a solid 4-6 minutes a day working out those important thigh muscles. The thigh muscles are one of the largest muscle groups in your body. Not only are they the quickest to be transformed once you start to work them out, but they also help you lose weight quicker when they are loaded with muscles instead of fat. Therefore, work out this large muscle group to get toned up and slimmed down quickly.

2. Lift the jug while pouring the milk. If you have milk or juice with your breakfast, spend a few minutes doing curls with the bottles as your coffee brews. The early-morning burst of energy and muscle activity will help you raise your body’s metabolism for the rest of the day. You’ll also find that by making small work-out sessions the first thing you do in the morning, you are more likely to continue to do them throughout the day.

3. Take a double step. While walking up the stairs, take a double step instead of just one. By extending your leg slightly higher, you are increasing the angle from about45 degrees to 90 degrees. The increased angle means that your muscles will have to work harder to get your body up the stair than if you were taking smaller steps.

4. Tip toe even when you’re not trying to be quiet. By tiptoeing around your home or office, you will find that your calves benefit the most from the extra effort. Stay as high on your toes as possible for a long amount of time. Or, raise and lower your body using only your calf muscles. The more you work those calf muscles, the tighter they will be in the long run.

5. Roll your neck. Most people store a large amount of their stress in their necks. When you keep stress in your body, it affects the amount of fat that you retain in your belly negatively. Therefore, by rolling the stress out of your neck, you inadvertently release the fat storage from your stomach. The effects of this exercise are both immediate, as you will begin to feel relaxed, as well as long term, as your entire body starts to slim down.

No matter how busy you are, it is important that you take time out to treat your body well. Stress, caused by a busy lifestyle and fast-paced work environment can not only increase the fat on you body, but it can deplete you of the energy you need to exercise properly. Therefore, it is important that you remind yourself to take care of your body, even if you cannot sample New Jersey’s wonderful parks and gyms everyday. A little movement goes a long way to a healthier lifestyle.

Increasing Your Metabolism by Douglas Alp

October 29th, 2008 by admin

If you are attempting to lose weight the two most important things you can do is to start eating right and definitely start an exercise routine. Your ultimate goal is to jump start your metabolism which will enable your body to burn more fat and in turn create more energy since the burning of calories creates energy.

Regardless of the amount of weight you’d like to lose the thing you need to focus on is increasing your metabolism. The reason for this is that when your metabolism is increased it will begin to stabilize at a higher level enabling you to burn more fat for energy at all times.

Now if you feel you need to lose a lot of weight I’d suggest that you first start increasing your metabolism by taking short brisk walks everyday. If you haven’t exercised in a while you want to start out slow so that you don’t cause injury or burn yourself out early in your quest. So start out with short walks, approximately 10 to 15 minutes per day. This will help to get the heart pumping and increase your blood circulation. This will also start increasing your oxygen intake which will increase the amount of oxygen to your entire body including your joints and ligaments. The addition oxygen helps to burn fat and increase your metabolism. Of course this is just a start and you will see some improvements, but as you get used to the increased exercise you will then want to start increasing the time and speed of your walks.

Once you start feeling your energy level and your strength increase you can then start adding some type of aerobic exercise program. Aerobic exercise will help with increasing your metabolism and help your heart muscles. Be aware that the aerobic heart rate is much higher that the ideal heart rate for burning fat, which is a bit lower in beat per minute. But you will still get the benefits of burning fat while pushing your metabolic rate much higher

Of course if you have less weight to lose your metabolism is probably a little higher already but you can still increase it, with more exercise of course. I’d suggest doing some type of cardio or aerobic exercise for at least 20 minutes every other day. I would also recommend eating 5 to 6 smaller meals throughout the day. This will give your body the continuous fuel to increase your metabolism.

The next level you want to approach is the level of strength and muscle building. This type of exercise will definitely increase your metabolism and will assist both men and women to build muscle which will allow the ability to burn fat at all times, even when you are at rest. Good or good! For all you woman don’t worry you do not need to get bulky, the weight lifting will provide toning and firming of your muscles and will help with your structure and the strength of your bones. For you men, lifting weights will start to give you more mass or just a more toned and cut look which will help you feel better about your body and yourself.

Many people do turn to supplements to increase their metabolism. This might be helpful but be careful. Make sure that you speak with your doctor whenever you start a new exercise program or if you start taking a metabolism increasing supplement. Be sure that there will not be any repercussions to your health or any conflicts with any prescription you may be taking. Also do some research on the ingredients and make sure they are good quality. There may be many supplements that work but pay attention to what your body is telling you and if the side effects create any discomfort discontinue the use of them.

The thing to focus on is that increasing your metabolism will assist you to burn fat and give you more energy. The addition of more muscle on your body will always make you look and feel better but no matter what route you take to boost your metabolism, make your health your number one priority.

6 Fibromyalgia Pain Relief Strategies

October 28th, 2008 by admin

Treating the pain associated with Fibromyalgia can be a difficult task since cures that help one person might not help you. Here is a list of popular and common pain remedies that should help your symptoms.

1 Entering into a consistent and relaxing exercise routine is one of the easiest and most beneficial ways of dealing with Fibromyalgia. Not only does exercise help keep you fit and trim, it also helps with blood flow throughout the body. It can also help normalize sleep patters and reduce the amount of time it takes for your body to recover from injury. Please remember to never start an exercise routine without consulting a doctor first.

2 A low carb and high protein diet is another popular way to help relieve Fibromyalgia pain. Not only will eating right help your body overall, by eliminating high amounts of saturated fat, refined white sugar, caffeine and alcohol, you can eliminate many common symptom triggers. Combine that with a beneficial exercise routine, and you will be well on your way to a healthier body and less pain.

3 As any long time sufferer of Fibromyalgia can tell you, nothing feels better than a good heating pad. Pads help with circulation and also help to loosen up muscles and joints that can ache during severe bouts of Fibro flare-up. There are many different pads you can use, cordless and the old-fashioned plug-in kinds. There are also chemical heating pads that you can you and even wear under your clothes during the day. Some of these pads can last up to 8 hours.

4 The use of topical pain medications is another popular way to deal with Fibromyalgia. But a quick trip to your local drug store reveals an overwhelming choice in pain relief rubs. The industry standard is, of course, Bengay. But if you’ve tried it and didn’t care for the results, there are literally a dozen other choices available. And if none of the name brand medications seem to do the trick, there are also a slew of homeopathic remedies and all-natural creams that many sufferers swear by.

5 Meditation might not be a cure-all for pain, but it can help relieve a lot of stress that can be a major trigger for Fibromyalgia symptoms. Meditation is a very personal, and for most a private practice. Most people require a quiet place, maybe some soothing music and the ability to completely relax. Meditation can also give a big boost to self-confidence by putting practitioners in the mindset that they can control their Fibromyalgia, and thus their pain, as well.

6 A final helper for pain is deep tissue massage. By helping to stimulate blood flow in the joints and muscles that are aching, symptoms and pain can be reduced. This works much the same way as a heating pad, but many Fibromyalgia sufferers swear by the deeper and more complete relief of a massage. You may need to experiment with this option. Try and find a massuse who has dealt with fibro patients before as initially the pain can stop you continuing with the massage.

Fibromyalgia can be a painful and debilitating ailment. Luckily, there are many non-drug methods of dealing with the chronic pain caused by this condition. You may have to try several methods before you find one that is right for you, but there is hope for everyone with Fibromyalgia.

5 Simple Ways To Lose Weight

October 28th, 2008 by admin

Losing unwanted body weight does not have to involve prolonged workout sessions at the gym or self-defeating fad diet regimens. In fact, most people find that without a sustained lifestyle change, any weight that is lost during a period of diet or extreme exercise is gained back once the activity is no longer practiced.

If you would like to lose pounds and keep them off, then you need to invest in a lifestyle adjustment. By altering only a few important patterns in your diet and exercise routine, you can literally lose weight without much effort. Here are some tips to help you quickly drop those extra pounds:

1. Walk for 30 minutes each day. Walking is not only a stress-reducer, but it is also more effective in inducing fat loss than a 30-minute jog. Here’s why: running helps you burn calories and quickly tone leg muscles because of the repeated flexing and force exerted on the leg muscles. However, because running increases the heart rate to aerobic levels, the heart rate also drops quickly once the activity has been stopped.

Walking, however, increases the heart rate to the fat-burning level. Any activity performed at the fat-burning level will have a longer-lasting impact. Thus, while you might flex and strain your muscles less during a 30-minute period of walking, the heart rate will stay elevated for a longer period of time.

2. Cut the portion in half. Whether you are eating a cheeseburger or plate of fries, divide the dish in half. If you are tempted to nibble on more than half, then give it away to a friend or have it wrapped up to take home (if you are dining out). Cutting your meal in half will not only decrease your calorie and fat in take dramatically, but it will help your body to become accustomed to smaller portions of food.

3. Get a full night’s rest. Many people find, and most doctors know, that getting a full night of undisturbed sleep not only leaves you feeling energized for a new day, but it helps your body metabolize your food much more efficiently. When they body is in the resting state during sleep, it actually works much harder to process energy than if you were to sit on the sofa watching the television. Furthermore, if you are fully rested, you will be more likely to take on projects with more vigor and energy the next day (which will help you burn more calories.) So go on – get those zzzz’s.

4. Call your mother. And take care of other items on your to-do list before they pile up. Undue stress has a very negative physiological effect on the body and contributes to fat storage in the cells. By reducing small amounts of stress in your life, you can quickly and simply reduce fatty deposits on your body, especially in the stomach area. So go ahead: call your loved ones!

5. Drink plenty of liquid. Liquid hydrates your cells and helps them push harmful toxins through your body more efficiently. By drinking plenty of liquid, such as water, juice and even tea, you will help your cells function at their best without much effort at all.

If you drink tea and coffee, be aware that they contain caffeine, which can increase your metabolism while it is in your system, but tends to slow your body down once it leaves. Caffeinated beverages should always be consumed with an extra glass of water to ensure that you do not end up depleting your body of necessary liquids.

To ensure that your lifestyle alterations become lasting, practice them with friends and loved ones. Adjusting to any changes can be easier if you have a friend with whom you can share the journey and help to keep each other on track.
