The Shocking Truth about Aspirin – It Doesn’t Work!

The Shocking Truth about Aspirin – It Doesn’t Work!

Aspirin has been around for over half a century. It’s primary and “original” use was for pain relief. But when Tylenol and NSAIDs (such as Advil) took over the pain relief field, the aspirin industry “bigwigs” pulled out the “big guns” and went after: heart disease. What the heck, they figured. After all, a billion-dollar medicine has to go somewhere. And like most businesses, you have to keep growing and finding new “revenue streams” to increase revenue and profits. The “big killer” of heart disease seemed like a natural avenue to go down. So aspirin decided to acquire “new indications” as a blood-clot fighter and is already widely used to treat and prevent strokes and heart attacks. It Didn’t Work For ApplesJust about every male I know over the age of 60 (including younger men) and many women (BOTH my parents in fact) are taking “an aspirin a day to keep the doctor away.” Well, it didn’t work for apples and I don’t think it works for aspirin either. But that isn’t stopping its promoters from telling people it will do that and a whole lot more.Crazy ClaimsTake a quick look at some of the other claims the “Aspirin Institute” is making about its product. The “Institute” strongly hints (”studies suggest that…”) that this “miracle drug” cures, decreases, alleviates, or prevents:- Breast cancer - Migraine headaches - Hodgkin’s disease Alzheimer’s disease - Prostate cancer - Cancer of the pancreas - Colon cancer Birth defects - Leukemia Immune disorders, including AIDS And that’s just a partial list, But geez … take a look at the last one - AIDS! Wow, if Aspirin really could do that, it would be a “miracle” drug, right? … So the “experts” seem to think that at least 95 percent of the population needs aspirin on a daily basis. But the dangers associated with extensive use of aspirin are downright horrifying.Aspirin Does The OppositeResearchers have reported that aspirin might, in fact, increase your risk for stroke, heart attack, macular degeneration (blindness), and cataract formation! You didn’t hear anything about these findings because no one reported on them in the popular press. So if you don’t read medical journals in your spare time, you probably missed these REAL bits of news. Here’s what the researchers have to say:- 40% of people who regularly take large doses of aspirin actually demonstrated an INCREASED risk of both stroke and heart attack. - Regular aspirin users have a significantly increased risk of macular degeneration with blindness! - Aspirin use also puts people at a 44% increased risk of cataracts. Of course, there’s always the widely known increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding that accompanies aspirin too. And these sorts of findings weren’t published in some lowly rag. No, the highly respected prestigious rags, like the British Medical Journal, Lancet, and the Journal of the American Medical Association, came to a similar conclusion: aspirin shows no benefit in the prevention of heart attacks! To Be Continued …I try my best to keep these articles short. But sometimes, especially with an important topic that most everyone is familiar with - like Aspirin - I tend to just keep on writing. Well, I’ll stop for today since I don’t want to overload you with too much information at once.

Which Protein Is Best For You?

Which Protein Is Best For You?

If you are physically active and taking supplements but still cannot seem to get the energy back in your body and brain, then it’s time to look at how much and what kind of protein you are getting. Even though dieters have been using high-protein diets for years, many are unaware of how much protein they actually need and how critical it is to their overall health. Low-protein diets can be lacking greatly in a lot of essential nutrients such as zinc, iron, manganese, chromium, copper, and others. This deficiency can cause illness and fatigue. Protein deficiency leads to difficult recovery from exercise, feeling tired, frequent colds, poor hair or nails, and a cessation in menstrual period for women, which may sound pleasant but is potentially dangerous. People of all ages are not aware of how much their protein needs change as they increase exercise. As your activity increases, so does your protein needs. Protein is important in your body because every single cell in the body is made up of proteins. Protein is also essential for muscle building, producing red blood cells, the production of various enzymes and hormones, and good hair, nails, and skin. Our immune systems are almost all protein based, so providing our body with protein means that we can fight colds and other infections better. Proteins are also needed in our body to repair muscle damage that occurs during mild exercise. Protein is made from a chain of amino acids and our body cannot make some of these amino acids, which means that they need to be found in our diet. There are eight amino acids that our body cannot make and must be found in our diet every day. These include: isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan, and valine. Although it is nice to know which amino acids are essential, it is even more important to know where you can find these amino acids because your muscles and body need them on a daily basis. Since proteins are constantly being broken down, it is necessary to get some every day. It is suggested that women aged 19 to 70 need 46 grams of protein per day, while men of the same age need 56 grams. Now that you know that protein is essential to your life, what kind of protein is actually needed? Even though protein can be found in a good diet by simply eating meat, nuts, eggs, and other foods, many of us with busy lives need a quick and convenient source of protein. At a health food store, your choices are soy, casein, whey, and egg. Although the classic protein source is whey protein, the problem is that even though it has a high amount of useable amino acids, some people don’t like it or have a hard time taking it. Other proteins like soy and casein don’t have the complete amino acid content that your body is looking for. With all the different forms of protein available one might wonder which is best? Egg white is the perfect protein source. Egg whites contain more than half the protein of an egg and are also rich in chlorine, niacin, potassium, magnesium, riboflavin, selenium, vitamin K, and sulfur. Additionally, egg whites have a high amount of protein but exclude the cholesterol and sodium found in the yolk. Egg white protein is considered almost perfect because human requirements for amino acids and the amino acids contained in eggs are almost identical. Eggs are also one of the well-tolerated proteins, as over 90 percent of the protein of eggs is digested into the individual amino acids that your body needs. Egg white protein is one of the few products on the market that taste good without the added artificial flavors, colors, or additives.

Turning The Clock Around With Anti Aging Nutritional Supplements

Turning The Clock Around With Anti Aging Nutritional Supplements

There is a shift in the way we approach anti aging therapies. We have now realised that anti aging requires a holistic approach.Anti aging skin treatments, anti-wrinkle creams and face lifts are treatments that only reverse the visual signs of aging. Although cosmetic treatments will always have their place in anti aging therapies, the times where we believed in miracle creams for eternal youth has past long time ago. Many factors are contributing to the aging process. Our modern lifestyle is primarily to blame for premature aging skin, skin disorders and aging diseases. Many of us are under constant stress and eating a diet that consists of processed foods. Not to mention the environmental factors like pollution and UV radiation that are contributing to the aging process. These aging accelerators come in the form of free radicals that are attacking the cells within our body. The oxidization of cells are in fact part of the natural process that is created during normal cell activity. Our bodies own defense mechanism is able to neutralize oxidized cells. However, we cannot cope with the amount of free radicals that our lifestyle causes. Ill health, degenerative diseases and toxicity are the results of accumulated cell damage.Nutrition is the basis for health and therefore anti aging. With advanced nutrition we can fight the aging accelerators by giving our body all it needs to stay in optimal health. The skin is an organ which gets its nutrients from within. The skin also shows the first signs of aging and is a reflection of your health. A undernourished toxic body would age prematurely according to its state of health.Vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and essential fatty acids are nutrients that we need on a daily basis. Unfortunately we get very little nutrients in our western diet.Despite the controversy on nutritional supplements, most health professionals do agree that we need to supplement our diet.Antioxidants are free radical scavengers. Most vitamins and minerals work with each other to keep the body running smoothly. A good example for that is calcium and magnesium. Magnesium helps with the absorption of calcium. One is not good without the other. A deficiency of calcium is to blame for the aging disease osteoporosis.Vitamins A, C and E are powerful antioxidants. Each vitamin performs a specific role in the maintenance of the cell.So when we’re looking for the best anti aging solution nutrition should be the first priority. Quality anti aging nutritional supplements are the basis for anti aging alongside a healthy diet and balanced lifestyle.Visit http://www.best-antiaging-solution.com/anti-aging-nutritional-supplements.html for more information.

Healthy Diet for Women

October 29th, 2008 by admin

A healthy diet is even more essential for women than men. As well as pregnancy, women have to cope with debilitating hormone irregularities which can impact adversely on both health and weight. Healthy eating won’t eliminate or cure these effects, but it often relieves symptoms. It’s worth remembering that some foods - especially fresh fruits and vegetables, contain chemicals which are believed to exercise a powerful beneficial effect on the human body.

Having a healthy diet is one of the most important things you can do to help your overall health. Along with physical activity, your diet is the key factor that affects your weight. Having a healthy weight for your height is important. Being overweight or obese increases your risk of heart disease, type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, breathing problems, arthritis, gallbladder disease, sleep apnea (breathing problems while sleeping), osteoarthritis, and some cancers.

Vitamins are organic compounds that your body needs for normal growth and health maintenance, but can’t make itself and must get from food or supplements. The way these vitamins function once ingested varies - fat-soluble vitamins like A and D tend to accumulate in the body and become toxic in large amounts, while water-soluble vitamins like C are flushed through the body on a daily basis. Minerals are inorganic substances necessary for the body to function properly.

Healthy Diet

Lean protein. The more active you are, the more protein you will need. Fresh fish, hormone-free chicken (try removing the skin to reduce the fat content), eggs, and lean meats like turkey or pork tenderloin are all good sources. Soy products can also provide protein, although some people are sensitive to soy and cannot digest it properly. The more variety you can incorporate into your diet, the better – so try and find different sources of lean protein every day.

Water - Most of us are dehydrated and don’t even know it. Fatigue, poor concentration and headaches are signs of mild dehydration. Keep bottled water in your office and filtered or bottled water at home; aim for eight glasses a day. Fizzy water is fine, too, and sure beats coffee or cola!

Nuts - A serving of nuts is 1/3 cup or a level handful for an average adult. A serving of peanut butter is two tablespoons, about the size of a golf ball.

Milk - We’ve all heard that milk products are rich sources of calcium, but did you know that they’re also loaded with protein? A glass of milk or a cup of yogurt has high-quality protein equal to an ounce of meat or cheese or to one egg. Try to choose reduced fat dairy products whenever possible. A glass of whole milk has the equivalent of two teaspoons of butter or three tablespoons of sour cream. That bit of added fat would probably be more enjoyable on a baked potato rather than hidden in your milk!

Bread, cereals, rice, pasta and noodles - grains and cereals come from a wide variety of sources including breakfast cereals (oats, muesli and wholegrain flakes), wholemeal breads and biscuits, rice, barley, corn and varieties of pasta.

Vegetables and legumes - raw or cooked vegetables can be used as a snack food or as a part of lunch and dinner. Salad vegetables can be used as a sandwich filling. Vegetable soup can make a healthy lunch. Stir-fries, vegetable patties and vegetable curries make nutritious evening meals. Try raw vegetables like carrot and celery sticks for a snack ‘on the run’.

Cultured condiments - such as fish sauce, apple vinegar, or homemade ketchup. These delicious condiments have high enzyme potential, which protects us from harmful substances in foods and facilitates absorption of vitamins and minerals.

10 Essential Steps to a Natural Diet by Frederic Patenaude

October 29th, 2008 by admin

Learn how to transition to a healthy diet now (Part 1).

In this article, I’m going to go back to some basics. I will be giving you specific, concrete action steps you can take right now to transition to a healthy, hopefully raw or mostly raw diet. Even if you’re a seasoned raw-foodist, I’m sure you will find some key insights in this article that will help you refine your diet and improve your program. These steps are in no particular order.

STEP #1 - *Workout and Exercise*

It’s not possible to be healthy without being fit. We know that, at least intuitively, even if we tend to forget the importance of fitness in a healthy lifestyle, by focusing too much on the importance of diet.

But more importantly, your physical condition has a major impact on your digestion, assimilation, and overall “nutrition.” For example, your ability to uptake sugar, called “insulin sensitivity,” is greatly influenced by your level of fitness.

If you are sedentary, insulin sensitivity is greatly reduced. Therefore, sugar is not carried as rapidly as it should to the cells. This can lead to or worsen blood sugar problems of all kinds.

If you’ve read my book “The Raw Secrets. ” You are aware of the importance of hunger in health. One problem is that most people do not eat when they are truly hungry, and mistake “appetite” for hunger. Once they learn how to make the distinction, they soon realize that they are rarely if ever truly hungry!

By exercising on a daily basis and eventually engaging in cardio-respiratory activities (jogging, cardio machines at the gym, cycling, etc.) every day, you will awaken that forgotten sense of hunger.

So exercise is very important, and the lack of a fitness program may be one of the reasons why you have difficulty eating a healthy diet.

STEP #2 - *Eat Fruit Before Each Meal*

One of the easiest ways to transition to a raw-food diet is to start eating fruit before every meal, including lunch and dinner. The idea is to eat fruit when you are the most hungry, which is at the beginning of the meal. Eat as much fruit as you desire then, and you will find that you will eat much less of the meal itself!

This is what I call an “automatic transition strategy.” Just start getting the raw-food in by eating fruit before each meal - just what your mom told you not to do when you were a kid. But now that you’re a grownup and that the Standard American Diet didn’t work for you, you need to go back to your natural instincts and satisfy your natural sweet tooth by eating as much fruit as you want before every single meal.

STEP #3 - *Learn to Make 7 Raw Food Recipes That You Enjoy*

It’s been found that most people know about 7 to 10 good recipes very well, and just rotate them throughout the months, adding in other stuff occasionally for variety.

Or look at when you buy a recipe book. You might try many recipes but eventually you’ll only retain a few that you’ll continue making for the years to come.

So what I want you to know now is to find 7 simple raw-food recipes that you really like, that are easy to make and that are properly combined. (INSIDER TIP: My recipe book “Instant Raw Sensations” is just about that: )

Ideally, I’d like you to know:

About 2 dressings

About 2 great salads

2-3 smoothies you really enjoy

1-2 more gourmet recipes

Those 7 or 10 recipes should be things you can make often, with ingredients that are easy to find, and some of them should have an instant appeal to your friends and family.

You’ll find that once you know what those recipes are, and you can make them without opening a book, that you’ll be wondering a lot less often “What should I be eating now?”

STEP #4 - *Get Rid of Cheese and Dairy*

Improving your diet isn’t about the things you ADD IN. It’s mostly about the things we LEAVE OUT. I know this reality is hard to take, but even if you eat all these fruits and vegetables, drink those fresh juices and make those huge smoothies, you won’t really feel great until you remove those offensive foods from your diet that are hurting you.

There’s one thing you need to say goodbye to forever, and it’s milk and cheese. In a previous article, I talked about the top-5 worst foods, and cheese was one of them.

Really, I see it all the time. People have this thing for cheese. They still eat it occasionally, and they still are addicted to it. (Actually, cheese contains some compounds in it that make it addictive for real, not just in your imagination).

If there would be just one category of food you could remove from your diet and feel much better for it, it’s got to be cheese and milk.

STEP #5 - *Eat Fruit in the Morning or Skip the Morning Meal*

The morning meal is the easiest to switch to raw. Most people find that once they start listening to their body, they are actually not truly hungry in the morning.

I’ve watched how many children generally don’t eat in the morning if they are left to themselves and not being force-fed.

My suggestion is that you can skip the morning meal altogether or replace it with a smoothie or some fruit. I know that this goes against all the advice you’ve heard about “never skipping meals” or that “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” What I’m telling you know is that this advice isn’t based on any solid facts.

The “breakfast” is when you break the “fast” of the night, and this doesn’t have to be at noon. In fact, the French word for breakfast means “lunch”, because for thousands of years the French didn’t eat in the morning. When they started doing so, they had to come up with a new word for that meal so they called it “small breakfast” (petit dejeuner).

Skipping the morning meal or eating some fruit will help you get in touch with your true sense of hunger, which will make it easier to eat raw. Plus, it will be good for a while to help you detox and lose some weight (if that’s an issue for you).

As you start exercising more, you will eventually get hungry in the morning, believe me!

Are You Ready to Quit Smoking for Good?

October 29th, 2008 by admin

When you examine how long you have been smoking cigarettes and/or using other tobacco products and how much you use on a daily basis now, your decision to quit smoking may be the most important decision you have made in your life. You have finally decided to take control of your life again and become healthy. Little did you know that when you started smoking quitting would be one of the hardest things you would ever do. Nicotine is absolutely the hardest drug to quit. You really do have some options to look at now that you have decided to quit. Look these options over very carefully. One of your first options will be to either develop a plan to follow or just stop willy-nilly and see what happens. Developing short-term, even daily, goals will help you on your trek to a smoke-free life. Sticking to your plan will help you endure the irrational beliefs and triggers you will have as you work to succeed in your attempt to stop smoking. These irrational beliefs and triggers will be discussed in a future article. One of your best options is looking at any aids that may help you quit. You should always talk to your doctor before using any aid to stop smoking. Although people have been known to become “secondarily addicted” to the stop smoking aid, it is highly recommended that you have a way to wean yourself off any aide used. Do try what you want, but be advised that not all aids work for everyone, use your discretion. The next option you will have is when you quit smoking. Some folks just “stopped” and others picked a date to stop. Choose what you want to do. Although the anticipation of a start date may be what really gets you excited and ready to stop, just stopping will also work if you look at your plan and just charge through. Which ever you do–follow through with your plan! I the early stages of quitting you may really need to avoid others who smoke and people who are negative to you about your quitting. Your self-esteem or self-worth will be fragile and you may slide back into smoking very easily. Stay with positive people and make sure they are nonsmokers. The last thing to discuss when you quit smoking is your determination. If you are not determined and committed to quit you will find the road to a smoke-free lifestyle a little more bumpy to travel. These are possibly the two most critical factors in your plan.
