Asking myself why I am always tired?
by Adam Ashford

On some days it can be extremely difficult to take the necessary time for a proper, well balanced meal. We juggle meetings across cities, work late hours, fulfilling difficult if not impossible targets, and even try and squeeze twenty five hours into a day. Very often all we have time for is a very quick cup of coffee, maybe a snack and a pastry from the closest vendor. There is no doubt that you will feel energized after such a break, but the truth is that you are eating wrong meals. After a while you might develop metabolic problems and you’ll start wondering how come I am constantly feeling so very tired. But that’s not all, during all that time you have been depriving your body of vital nutrients. Now you see that what you eat, how you spend your free time, stress, anxiety, your overall medical condition and many other things can make it clear how come you’re always so very tired.

Anger, anxiety and being under stress can harm your emotional well being and that can be the reason why you’re always tired. Your blood pressure increases and some damaging hormones such as adrenaline are secreted in your body. The main reason why you might be feeling always tired right after getting mad is that the body needs to reroute its already scarce energy reserves to restrain the rising blood pressure and hormones. In fact, losing your temper too often can be lethal if you are suffering from high blood pressure with compromised cardiac status.

Sometimes, some of the commonly prescribed pills especially those intended to treating depression may cause you to feel always tired. Treating cancer for example often entails extended energy sapping treatments and in the end you might end up feeling always tired.

Anemic persons also complain of feeling tired. In this case, a patient has a low red blood cell count. Red blood cells bring oxygen to the cells of the body. Having a low level of red blood cells may be a sing of the fact that many millions of cells inside your body are not getting enough oxygen. In that case youll feel always tired much more regularly.

Here is what you can do in an event that you’re feeling always tired. Clean your body with a refreshing glass of lemon water. Make sure you consume a lot of fresh fruits and green vegetables in your diet. They are the most natural reserve of useful nutrients. Limit the intake of all drinks containing alcohol to the minimum and try to avoid smoking altogether. Try to avoid stress both at home as well as your office. You and your family live longer and better lives. A physical fitness routine like jogging everyday or joining a gym is one of the best ways to keep your body in form. What is more you will not feel always tired ever again.

Effects of Coffee - Get The Facts

October 29th, 2008 by admin

Are you a caffeine addict like me? The smell of brewed coffee can really awaken the senses. But people will feel the effects more after sipping because this is when the effects of coffee truly happen.

What are exactly the effects of coffee? Studies have shown this can boost someone’s vigilance, improve concentration and performance. In the body, this means an increase in the heart rate, blood pressure and basal metabolic rate. It will also promote urine production and can help relax muscle tension. It is because of this that many use coffee while studying for an exam, to help wake up in the morning or work through the night.

Caffeine is the main ingredient in coffee. According to research, it is harmless to have one or two cups every day. However, those who exceed this can endure the negative effects such as headaches, difficulty sleeping, irregular heartbeat, muscle tension and nausea. This can also lead to heartburn or ulcer, which is why experts also recommend individuals to drink in a moderate way.

For pregnant women or patients who have heart disease, coffee is not good and they should avoid it because it could cause birth defects or other health problems.

But persons who consume coffee can also feel the same effects by having substances that contain caffeine. Examples of these are tea, sodas and chocolates.

Coffee would not make the individual do something foolish which is normally associated with the consumption of illegal substances or alcohol. But it can be habit forming. People who drink coffee on a regular basis and suddenly stop may feel what is called a withdrawal effects that will disappear after a day or two when they are able to once again have a cup of coffee.

But coffee has been known to prevent certain diseases. Java for instance works as an anti-depressant, this is what I call good effects of coffee. Others are known to lessen the chances of developing Parkinson’s disease in men even if doctors are not yet able to determine the cause of this disease.

Coffee is being consumed in almost every household. It can be brewed at home or in the office, or bought from the store.

The effects of coffee has on one person may differ with another depending on how well the body is able to react to the caffeine so when the individual has felt this is enough, it is time to stop rather than feeling the negative effects of consuming too much. Nonetheless it is hard to beat a good cup of coffee in the morning. But since I want to better take care of my health I will try to drink a bit less coffee and start drinking some green tea during the day. Well like I said at least I will try.

This well known writer is an Internet researcher and without a doubt likes to share his information with you the reader. Learn more now about Coffee and regarding Effects of Coffee advice at his web site worldgourmetcoffeeguide.com

Environmental Hazards-Pregnancy

Environmental Hazards-Pregnancy

Anything that you expose your to, whether it is the foods you eat or pollutants such as cigarette smoke, can affect your body and potentially, your unborn baby. It is especially important before conception and around the time of conception to be aware of how things in your everyday life may affect your chances of becoming pregnant and the heath of your baby. In many cases scientists have not adequately studied the effects of environmental factors on human fertility. One of the reasons is that it is often difficult to isolate one risk factor, such as pesticide exposure from other risk factors for lower fertility. How ever it is sensible to avoid certain known hazards.Food And Alcohol Some foods are potentially hazardous mainly because they may be contaminated with pollutants (such as mercury) or microorganisms (such as listeriosis) that cause disease. These are covered more fully. Coffee and alcohol intake may also influence fertility.Coffee Drinking coffee is unlikely to reduce your chances of conceiving unless you drink a lot: more than than five cups a day may slightly lower your fertility. Try to limit your overall caffeine in take to 250 to 300 mg. An average cup of coffee has about 90mg of caffeine. Remember that tea and certain soft drinks often contain caffeine.Alcohol This is linked with some reduction in fertility but only if you drink more than 4-8 alcoholic beverages a week. An occasional drink is unlikely to affect your ability to conceive significantly. How ever it is best to refrain from heavy drinking mainly so that you don’t have to worry about the possible effects on your baby if you do become pregnant.SmokingSmoking causes significant decreases in fertility. It’s estimated that about 13 percent of cases of infertility may be attributable to cigarette smoking. Smoking also reduces the amount of oxygen reaching your baby. Smoking lowers the age at which women start menopause, suggesting that it contributes to the premature depletion of eggs in the ovaries. Unfortunately infertility in smokers cannot always be treated successfully with assisted reproductive technology (ART) because smoking can permanently affect the ability of the ovaries to respond to fertility treatments. Smoking marijuana has also been linked to decreased fertility, especially when it is combined with alcohol. The best time to stop smoking is now, before you become pregnant.X-Rays And Radiation The amount of radiation in routine X-rays should not affect your ability to become pregnant in the future. However, women who have had pelvic radiation for cancer may have problems conceiving. The level of radiation in any one diagnostic X-ray should not increase your risk of miscarriage, however it is always a good idea to tell the technician if you are trying to conceive so that your uterus can be shielded.

Natural Cures for Hangovers

Natural Cures for Hangovers

Hangover (veisalgia) describes the amount of painful physical effects following thick intake of drugs, especially intoxicating beverages. A hangover is caused by a combination of the poisonous byproduct of alcohol metabolism (acetaldehyde), dehydration, and Vitamin A, B (especially B6) and C depletion caused by the chemical activity of alcohol on your structure. Hangovers normally last 1 to 4 hours. a kind of symptoms that may include dehydration, tiredness, worry, sickness, vomiting, diarrhoea, failingDrinks with electrolytes are your best bet for getting rid of a hangover. Did you mom ever give you Pedialyte when you had a stomach flu to help keep you hydrated? Well, Gatorade is the perfect anti hangover drink and it works like Pedialyte to help replenish the sodium, potassium, and chloride (electrolytes) levels in your body. Water just isn’t enough. But make sure the Gatorade is at room temperature, not cold. Cold liquids make it harder for your body to absorb things.Exercise will help get rid of your hangover by helping the body rid itself of toxins. The increased circulation gets blood and oxygen to your oxygen-starved brain.A good, brisk walk will also increase circulation with the results mentioned above.Another “morning after” remedy is to take a probiotic supplement, such as acidophilus, to help restore the flora balance in your stomach.Milk time:Milk is good for health. You must have heard this cliché for many times. However, drinking milk actually provides you a lot of benefits when it comes to removing the hangover due to overindulgence in wine. Drink milk before having your glass of wine. It provides a protective coating to the stomach and aids in absorption of the alcohol you intake.Drink a cup of coffee. The caffeine in coffee will help reduce your swollen blood vessels. Inflammation of the blood vessels is the cause of hangover. You may also take fruit juice to help in metabolizing the alcohol in your blood.Eat crackers or muffin. If you take mild food with honey, it will be more helpful. This is because honey will help you breakdown the alcohol and speed its metabolism.Along with losing water, while your drinking your body loses a lot of salt and potassium. You will need to get this back into your body so you can begin to feel better. Try eating some chicken soup if you can take it. If your still to queasy for that then munch on some crackers until you feel a bit better. Bananas also contain a lot of potassium. I was never able to do the banana thing during a hangover though. Something about that fruit just didn’t sit well with my belly after drinking. The major hangover you experience may be due to combining red wine with whiskey. You should mix whiskey with soda or water. Avoid mixing it with cola and tonic.Hangover is due to over indulgence in wine. Try to stay away from it. Follow the instructions mentioned above you would feel better after a wine party with your friends.

Never Too Overloaded To Exercise Article - Health Articles

October 25th, 2008 by admin

Who doesn’t gripe about how hurried our lives are these days? Exercise often takes a back seat to everything else that we have going on. At a time when most of us are engaging in inferior and inferior visible exertion and eating greater and augmented prepared convenience foods, fitting some exercise into our regular schedule is becoming increasingly critical. If you find yourself falling into this type then here are five elementary ideas for fitting a miniature exercise into your working day.

1. Try ‘working out’ instead of ‘vegging out’. At the end of most working days there are usually a couple of programs on the television that can help you unwind and relax. Instead of stretching out on the couch (probably with a bag of chips and soda pop) try doing some exercise and watching the television at the same time. This can be as mild as doing some stretching exercises, sit ups or light weight lifting or, if you are really contemplative about your exercise, why not set up a limited home gym in the house and watch your main program while using an exercise bike or a treadmill?

2. Try to decrease the number of coffee breaks you have during the day. It is surprising how coffee breaks can eat into the day! If you make a note of how long you spend on coffee breaks in an standard day you will probably be amazed at just how much time you could be doing productive work. One idea might be to frankly roll these breaks up into just a couple of longer breaks each day and use this time to take some exercise, even if it is just walking around your office building or climbing a straggling flights of stairs. You will also obtain that the endorphins which your body produces as a by-product of even a tiny bit of exercise will do greater to enliven you than your cup of coffee!

3. Take a packed lunch with you to work. Most of us gou outside the office for lunch, often with some of our co-workers, and often choose less than nutritious food options which we wash down with a large cup of coffee or two. Why don’t you try taking your packed lunch out for a walk (or greater still a run) and, when you get tired, stop off to eat.

4. Make exercise part of your social life. We all like to get out with our friends and gab about the problems of the world. Instead of sitting around in your local bar or coffee shop to do so, why not find a increased challenging venue and combine your socializing with a game of badminton, squash or even bowling (my prized)?

5. Try a little housework. Okay, I can hear a lot of you throwing up your hands in horror but various forms of housework such as cleaning the kitchen, washing down the bathroom, mowing the lawn (not with your adored ride-on lawn mower), and digging over the vegetable patch are all huge forms of exercise. Those dust bunnies won’t go away by themselves! They don’t do your house any harm either.

These are just a straggling plain ideas and I am sure that you can come up with bountious increased of your own. It really doesn’t matter what you do, as long as you fit some exercise into your common method. And remember, if you haven’t done any exercise for a while, take it stall at basic and build yourself up gradually.

Bodyweight Training Is Best Way To Burn Fat & Build Muscle

October 24th, 2008 by admin

Bodyweight training is one of the best ways to burn fat and build muscle. Unfortunately, most people think (or are led to believe) they should have a room full of equipment or an exclusive gym membership in order to better their physique. They completely overlook the fat burning and muscle building ability of bodyweight training. I trust this article opens your eyes to the possibilities of using the gym you were born with!

Heads up: at the end of the article I’m going to explain to you one exercise that simultaneously builds muscle and burns fat.

It’s happened to all of us at one situation or another (even me). We look in the mirror one day and we observe we are softer and fatter. While we weren’t looking in the mirror, our muscle tone and power has decreased, and our waistline has enlarged. This is when most would say, “It’s time to hit the gym”.

Now, just a moment. I concur, it is time to do something about your build. But signing up for a membership at a gym does not have to be the answer. As a matter of fact, you can begin burning fat and increasing muscle mass right away to improve your physique.

As we take a closer look, keep in mind all of the useful and important information that we have learned so far.

Let me show you how bodyweight training can improve your physique in as little 15 minutes a day…

Instead of going to the gym, you may or may not end up going to, begin by adding a bodyweight workout program to your daily schedule. Come on, it is painless to find 15 minutes to workout. And 15 minutes is all you need to do to begin increasing your general confidence and looking better. Clearly, I’d like to see you workout even more, but let’s keep it easy at 15 minutes for now.

So, you get up in the morning and do 15 minutes of bodyweight calisthenics. By the way, you’ll find this more invigorating than swilling down a dozen donuts cup of coffee. Do this every day. Yes, every day, and you will see improvements in your appearance within a few weeks.

Now, I can hear some of you say, “I thought you were only to workout every other day, or 3 times a week!”

This is correct, if you are trying to increase your body weight and muscle rapidly, such as a professional bodybuilders that wants increase his weight for competition. Bodybuilders need that extra day to mend from the vast amount of training they achieve. But you are only doing 15 minutes of bodyweight exercise. This allows you 1,440 minutess to mend between bodyweight training sessions. This is more than enough.

Now, if you do this every day for a week, you do 1 hour and 45 minutes of working out. Do you think 1 hour and 45 minutes will begin to increase your muscles and burn off mega fat? You bet it does!

Now, for the skeptics that think bodyweight exercising is too “painless”, or that you can’t get a great muscle building, fat burning workout in 15 mintues, remember, I promised to show you a exercise that you can start doing right away.

Here is how you do it…

Stand under a chin up bar with your feet shoulders width apart and arms at your sides. Bend your knees and squat down, place your hands on the floor in front of you. Kick your feet back so you are in the up right position of the push up. Execute a push up. Jump your feet forward under your body… then explode up and grab the bar with palms facing you. Execute a chin up. Drop down and repeat.

Do this for a few minutes and your entire body will feel it, from your muscles to your hearrt and lungs, and you burn a lot of fat. Try to do as many as you can for a full 15 minutes, and I promise you’ll have a new appreciation for bodyweight exercise.

I hope this article has opened you eyes to the fantastic possibilities of bodyweight training. If you need to strenghten, tone your muscles and burn fat, begin altering your physique right away with your own bodyweight. Make a consistent effort every day and you’ll meet your goals.

LIVE LONGER USING A WATER IONIZER by Shelley Moore

Strong Alkaline Water for better Health

THE ACID ALKALINE BALANCE - A MATTER OF LIFE AND DEATH

There are 2 numbers related to your body that are vital:

1. Your body temperature must be maintained at 98.6 °F or 37 °C. This is why when it is hot outside, often times we will shiver or conversely when it’s cold, we sweat. This keeps your body temperature within a narrow, safe range.

2. You blood pH level must be maintained at 7.36. The blood is the basic source of everything, carrying oxygen and nutrients throughout the body. If this number was to fluctuate by only 1 or 2 points, you would be dead because it would literally change your chemistry. Think of it like a stove, if you unplug it from the power source there is no power and it won’t function. Similarly, it would be as if someone ‘unplugged’ all your organs, cells, everything!

What does a pH of 7.36 mean?

PH measures the acidity or alkalinity of a solution. Is the balance between positively charged ions, which are acid forming and negatively charged ions, which are alkaline forming. The pH scale ranges from 0, being pure acid to 14, being pure alkaline. At a pH of 7 the solution is neutral which means the water contains equal amounts of positive or acid forming ions and negative or alkaline forming ions. If, for example, the pH is 6.2 it would mean the solution is acidic and there are more positive ions (acidic forming ions) than negative ions. Our body pH sits at 7.36, which is slightly alkaline.

ACID and ALKALINE FOODS

A healthy diet should consist of 75-80% alkaline foods and 20-25% acidic foods. The pH scale is a logarithmic scale which means it generally takes 20 parts alkalinity to balance 1 part acid. There are different degrees of alkalinity and acidity so this number may fluctuate slightly. However, using a cup of coffee as an example, we would need 20 cups of i.e. alkaline water to neutralize the acid created by the coffee. The chart below details alkaline and acidic foods.

Note: A foods acid or alkaline forming tendency in the body has nothing to do with the actual pH of the food itself i.e. lemons are very acidic however are alkaline forming in the body.

If we eat an imbalanced diet that is high in acidic foods like caffeine, animal protein and sugar it disrupts our pH. This forces our body to utilize its alkaline reserves or buffers such as calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium in order to neutralize the acid and remove from it from the body. As our alkaline reserves are depleted in order to neutralize excess acid, they leave the body in a compromised condition.

You may not be overweight but “over-acid”.

If there is too much acid in your system your body will hold onto the weight in order to protect it.

Have you ever noticed that some people tend to shrink when they get older? This is entirely preventable. When you live an acid lifestyle and have depleted your alkaline reserves, the body moves the acid from the bloodstream into the fat stores of the body. This is a survival mechanism the body takes to get the acid away from the vital organs.

However, your body needs calcium and if you have depleted your alkaline reserves from the blood to neutralize the acid, it will leech calcium from your bones. If it does this continuously your bones will get weaker and weaker and you will lose mass. People shrink because they have too much acid in their system.

Over-acidity is very common in today’s world because of our lifestyle and diet. More and more doctors and nutritionalists believe the diseases rampant in our society are a result of an acid-alkaline imbalance.

An acidic body can result in:

- Cardiovascular damage - Weight gain/ obesity

- Diabetes - Premature aging

- Osteoporosis - Weak bones and hip fractures

- Kidney stones - Joint pains/ sore muscles

- Candida - Low energy

“A recent seven-year study conducted at the University of California, San Francisco, on 9,000 women showed that those who have chronic acidosis are at greater risk for bone loss than those who have normal pH levels. The scientists who carried out this experiment believe that many of the hip fractures prevalent among middle-aged women are connected to high acidity caused by a diet rich in animal foods and low in vegetables. This is because the body borrows calcium from the bones in order to balance pH”.

- American Journal of Clinical Nutrition

WHY AM I ACIDIC?

Diet is probably the biggest reason. Many of us eat and drink high acid producing foods such as animal products and soft drinks and don’t eat and drink enough alkaline producing foods such as fresh vegetables. On top of that, we eat many processed foods like sugar, refined carbohydrates and cooked oils and drink acid producing beverages such as coffee, alcohol and soft drinks. Artificial sweeteners, such as NutraSweet, Equal and Aspartame are an ingredient in many products and are extremely acidic.

Symptoms of Excess Acid:

- Arthritis - Headaches

- Indigestion - Low Energy

- Congestion - Hives

- Brittle nails - Frequent Colds, Flu, Infections

- dry skin, dandruff - Stressed and Irritable

- Muscle aches/ pains - Leg Cramps

HOW TO GET BACK IN BALANCE USING A WATER IONIZER

Reestablishing an acid alkaline balance begins with proper diet and nutrition. Only when the pH is balanced is your body able to properly assimilate vitamins and minerals. Our body is slightly alkaline and is made up of 70% water, so our diet should reflect this.

Alkalize and Energize!

Cleanse. Balance your pH by super- hydrating your system, drinking 3-4 liters of alkaline drinks a day. This could include green drinks and ionized, alkaline water. Water is a critical factor in establishing and maintaining a healthy acid alkaline balance.

On average a person should drink ½ their weight in ounces of water per day. For example, a person weighing 150 pounds should drink 75 oz per day, which is the equivalent to about, 9-10 glasses of water per day (assuming an 8 oz glass).

The quality of the water you drink is as important as the quantity of water you drink.

Ideally the water you drink should be alkaline water with a pH of 9-10. Alkaline water is LIVING WATER and is more easily absorbed into your body tissues. As such, alkaline water will help neutralize acids and remove any toxins from the body.

A water ionizer converts tap water into strong alkaline water with a high pH. A water ionizer is a small appliance that sits on your kitchen counter or can be mounted under the sink. A special attachment redirects tap water from the faucet to the water ionizer through a plastic hose. Once in the water ionizer, the water is filtered through activated charcoal, removing common pollutants found in municipal water. From there it goes into a chamber equipped with platinum coated titanium electrodes, where electrolysis takes place. During this process the water ionizer splits the water into 2 flows, alkaline water and acidic water, both offering incredible benefits. The alkaline water comes out of the faucet in the sink - ready to drink! A separate hose coming from the water ionizer releases acidic (oxidized) water. This acidic water is excellent for sterilizing, washing hands, treating minor wounds and burns and insect bits. It destroys over 99% of bacteria, including E-Coli.

Alkaline water has antiaging properties and can help the body resist and fight disease.

Improve your health using a water ionizer and drinking more water.
