The Shocking Truth about Aspirin – It Doesn’t Work!

October 30th, 2008 by admin

The Shocking Truth about Aspirin – It Doesn’t Work!

Aspirin has been around for over half a century. It’s primary and “original” use was for pain relief. But when Tylenol and NSAIDs (such as Advil) took over the pain relief field, the aspirin industry “bigwigs” pulled out the “big guns” and went after: heart disease. What the heck, they figured. After all, a billion-dollar medicine has to go somewhere. And like most businesses, you have to keep growing and finding new “revenue streams” to increase revenue and profits. The “big killer” of heart disease seemed like a natural avenue to go down. So aspirin decided to acquire “new indications” as a blood-clot fighter and is already widely used to treat and prevent strokes and heart attacks. It Didn’t Work For ApplesJust about every male I know over the age of 60 (including younger men) and many women (BOTH my parents in fact) are taking “an aspirin a day to keep the doctor away.” Well, it didn’t work for apples and I don’t think it works for aspirin either. But that isn’t stopping its promoters from telling people it will do that and a whole lot more.Crazy ClaimsTake a quick look at some of the other claims the “Aspirin Institute” is making about its product. The “Institute” strongly hints (”studies suggest that…”) that this “miracle drug” cures, decreases, alleviates, or prevents:- Breast cancer - Migraine headaches - Hodgkin’s disease Alzheimer’s disease - Prostate cancer - Cancer of the pancreas - Colon cancer Birth defects - Leukemia Immune disorders, including AIDS And that’s just a partial list, But geez … take a look at the last one - AIDS! Wow, if Aspirin really could do that, it would be a “miracle” drug, right? … So the “experts” seem to think that at least 95 percent of the population needs aspirin on a daily basis. But the dangers associated with extensive use of aspirin are downright horrifying.Aspirin Does The OppositeResearchers have reported that aspirin might, in fact, increase your risk for stroke, heart attack, macular degeneration (blindness), and cataract formation! You didn’t hear anything about these findings because no one reported on them in the popular press. So if you don’t read medical journals in your spare time, you probably missed these REAL bits of news. Here’s what the researchers have to say:- 40% of people who regularly take large doses of aspirin actually demonstrated an INCREASED risk of both stroke and heart attack. - Regular aspirin users have a significantly increased risk of macular degeneration with blindness! - Aspirin use also puts people at a 44% increased risk of cataracts. Of course, there’s always the widely known increased risk of gastrointestinal bleeding that accompanies aspirin too. And these sorts of findings weren’t published in some lowly rag. No, the highly respected prestigious rags, like the British Medical Journal, Lancet, and the Journal of the American Medical Association, came to a similar conclusion: aspirin shows no benefit in the prevention of heart attacks! To Be Continued …I try my best to keep these articles short. But sometimes, especially with an important topic that most everyone is familiar with - like Aspirin - I tend to just keep on writing. Well, I’ll stop for today since I don’t want to overload you with too much information at once.

Hidden Dangers of Soy: Soy Product Dangers

Hidden Dangers of Soy: Soy Product Dangers

If you have been hearing all about how good soy products are for you, and how much the soybean can benefit your health on so many levels, then you might be very surprised to hear that soy is not any of these things! The truth is that soy could even be killing you and your family, and you may not even know it. Do you know what is in soy and soy protein? Did you know that if you are experiencing unusual weight gain, bloating and / or nausea, it could all be eliminated just by removing soy products from your diet?Today’s families are consuming soy and soy products much, much more than we ever were, all throughout history. Is it just a coincidence then, that today’s families are also seeing many more cases of obesity, thyroid problems, osteoporosis, cancer and many more diseases than our ancestors?I bought into the soy fad just like everyone else – until I went into anaphylactic shock! I discovered I was allergic to soy (deathly allergic!), and this prompted me to do some research into the subject. What I found out about soy shocked me into writing a book about it.You may be reading this and thinking, ‘they wouldn’t have put anything on the market if it wasn’t safe – aren’t these things tested and regulated?’ Well, they are not supposed to put things in the stores that aren’t safe, but I’m afraid that they are anyway! In 1966 they did a lot of research into soy and the harmful substance in the soybean. They found that there are naturally occurring compounds within the bean that are toxic to humans and animals. Soy has even been linked with breast cancer, Down syndrome and brain damage in infants!I guess the food manufacturers did not care about the research that was done in 1966. The soy industry makes $70 billion per year today, and whenever we buy soy and soy products we are giving them more reasons not to care!By now you may be wondering why I keep referring to soy products; did you know that due to advances in food technology, they are now isolating soy proteins, isoflavones and other substances found in the soy bean and adding them to foods where soy does not occur naturally? The stunning truth is that almost all processed and manufactured foods today have some form of soy in them. This is a highly disturbing fact, especially because soy actually takes away the nutrients in other foods, not allowing the body to benefit from them. There are many claims made about soy by the soy industry. We have all heard how soy will reverse your child’s obesity, how soy contains less calories and fat, how soy will prevent cancer, and the list goes on. However, there are many hidden dangers with soy products. Keep your family safe from soy protein danger. Do not feed your children soy products. Do not give your baby soy infant formula. Remember to research claims and “health products” before serving them to your family.Dangers of Soy More Articles:Soy Health Risks

Gently Narrow Your "Estrogen Window" With Lignan’s

October 30th, 2008 by admin

Gently Narrow Your %26quot;Estrogen Window%26quot; With Lignan’s

Although many people think that breast cancer is a genetically transferred disease, the truth is that it is rarely genetically transferred, as only one in every ten cases are linked to genes for this cancer. Strong evidence points to environmental causes being the main reason for breast cancer. By avoiding synthetic chemicals that mimic estrogens, a substantial fraction of these cancers can be prevented. These synthetic chemicals are called xenoestrogens. These xenoestrogens are manmade chemicals that either imitate or enhance the effects of estrogens in the body’s cells and tell these cells to grow. During puberty, this growth message is important to a woman’s body and during pregnancy and the preparation for that. At this time period, estrogens are in full force, but if estrogen stimulation is increased by chemicals, cell growth is increased even more. Uncontrolled cell growth provides the foundation for cancer. As cells rapidly multiply, which is what happens when exposed to estrogens, the chance of DNA mutation is enhanced, which causes the creation of cancerous cells. A lot of women today also deal with increased estrogen stimulation over their lifetimes due to an early onset of menstruation, late menopause, and less time spent breastfeeding. The use of estrogen-containing oral contraceptives and post-menopausal hormone replacement also add to the estrogen burden, along with obesity and being overweight. Estrogens affect cells by binding to receptor sites. However, there are tools that help to reduce the impact of areas that have a lot of receptor sites, such as the breasts. One of the main tools is lignans, which are a group or naturally occurring plant chemicals that are found in flaxseeds. Interest in lignans began with observational studies, which found a link between high intake and reduced risk of breast and colon cancers. Studies have reinforced those results, finding that lignans inhibit the growth of breast and colon cancer and also reduce the spread of skin cancer. The real benefit of lignans starts when they reach your intestines, where friendly bacteria convert them into phytoestrogens. Phytoestrogens are a gentler estrogen, which bind to the same receptors that other estrogens bind, but don’t have the growth-accelerating effects. While they are occupying these receptors, the less kind and gentle estrogens are unable to bind to them, resulting in both an estrogenic and estrogen-blocking effect. This explains why lignans are effective both for fighting against breast cancer and reducing the effect of hot flashes other symptoms during menopause. When estrogens are low, lignans act as weak estrogens, but when they are high, lignans act as estrogen blockers. The risk for breast cancer is strongly affected by a woman’s “estrogen window”, or overall estrogen exposure that has been experienced over her reproductive years. The early onset of menstruation, no pregnancies, being pregnant after age 30, limited or no breastfeeding, short menstrual cycles, and late menopause all expand the estrogen window, increasing lifetime estrogen exposure along with the risk for breast cancer. By adding lignans to the diet, women can reduce the size of the estrogen window, and therefore, block the excess estrogen stimulation in estrogen-sensitive tissues like the breasts. Additionally, lignans are also believed to reduce the risk of colon and prostate cancers. When they are delivered along with omega-3-rich flaxseed oil, they promote better cholesterol balance, heart health, joint health, better bone density, greater endurance, better blood sugar balance, and healthy skin, hair, and nails.

Myths About Breastfeeding

October 29th, 2008 by admin

Breastfeeding is not only good for infants. Mothers will benefit from this practice as well. But before we go to that, let’s take a look at some of the myths about breast¬feeding that persist to this day.

First and foremost among these is the belief that breastfeeding will cause breast cancer. Some women are reluctant to nurse their babies thinking that they will acquire this dreaded disease later. The truth is, this belief has no scientific basis.

“The serious charge that breastfeeding increases a woman’s chance of developing cancer of the breast is absolutely untrue. Extensive studies have shown that breastfeeding mothers do not get any more cancers of the breast than bottle-feeding mothers. Therefore, fear of contracting cancer is no reason not to breastfeed,” according to Dr. Myron Winick in The Columbia Encyclopedia of Nutrition.

Neither is there any truth in the belief that breastfeeding will deform the breasts or cause them to sag. Winick, director of the Institute of Human Nutrition, Columbia University College of Physicians, said no responsible study has demonstrated this.

Milk production is not related to breast size but it is stimulated by repeated suckling. The more you breastfeed, the more milk is produced regardless of the size of the breasts.

“Some people have said that women with small breasts may not be able to nurse their infant adequately. Ability to nurse does not depend on breast size. With few exceptions, every woman has more than enough active breast tissue to nurse her infant adequately,” Winick explained.

The only ones who can’t breastfeed are those who take medicines that may affect children. Even then, there are exceptions to the rule.

“There are very few physical conditions that would make breastfeeding inadvisable. If a woman has a condition for which a drug is prescribed, she should ask her physician or pharmacist whether the drug(s) in question are transferred to breast milk or will have an effect on the baby. Maternal medication is not necessarily a reason to discontinue breastfeeding if the physician can determine the degree to which the medication enters breast milk,” said Dr. Susan Baker of the Boston Children’s Hospital in Parents’ Guide to Nutrition.

So you see, there’s really no reason why you shouldn’t breastfeed your baby. On the contrary, there’s a lot to be gained from this practice.

Bio-Identical Hormone Safety Controversy: Suzanne Somers vs. The Establishment by Michael E. Platt, M.D.

October 29th, 2008 by admin

Suzanne Somers has single-handedly aroused world-wide interest in bio-identical hormone therapy – this is good.

She has made women and men aware that they have to be proactive about their health – in other words, take responsibility – this is good.

However, the specific recommendations that she is championing with regard to hormone replacement is not only ill-advised, it may actually be dangerous. She is a strong advocate of the hormone estrogen – which is fairly ironic since this is the hormone that gave her breast cancer, contributed to her life-long battle with weight (it is lipogenic, i.e. it causes fat to be deposited around the hips, thighs, buttocks, breasts, etc.), and recently caused her to undergo a gynecological procedure for uncontrollable bleeding.

When advising women to take high dosages of a toxic hormone it is important to give them the entire picture. Estrogen is known to cause six different cancers, it predisposes to strokes, heart attacks, and pulmonary emboli (it is contraindicated in coronary artery disease), it is the hormone that causes menstrual symptoms, such as cramps, PMS, breast tenderness, and migraine headaches, it can cause gallbladder disease, asthma, lupus and rheumatoid arthritis, and causes nausea during pregnancy.

Nature is a lot smarter than we are – it allows estrogen levels to diminish at a certain time in a woman’s life when procreation is not necessary. I suspect nature recognizes that estrogen is not a safe hormone which is another reason the levels are decreased.

Women, and their doctors, should be aware that women never stop making estrogen, so very often it is not necessary to be replaced except in specific instances (i.e. vaginal dryness, low body fat (because estrogen is produced primarily in fatty tissue, etc).

From a bio-identical hormone replacement standpoint, progesterone is the only hormone that has to be replaced. Prior to the menopause, this hormone prevents or eliminates all the downsides to estrogen. Ms. Somers was on birth control pills for 21 years which meant she did not ovulate for 21 years, which means she was without progesterone for 21 years. The progestins in B.C. pills are not progesterone – they are synthetic and are as dangerous as the estrogen in B.C. pills.

After stopping B.C. pills it is my understanding that Ms. Somers was on extremely high levels of estradiol, the strongest estrogen – no wonder she got breast cancer. I am confused why she feels it necessary to surround herself only with hormone doctors that recommend estrogen.

The purpose of this article is not to criticize Ms. Somers – I am extremely grateful that her activities brought BHRT out of the closet. I would simply recommend that she speak to doctors that may have a different viewpoint.

In her latest book called Ageless, she is now recommending human growth hormone (HGH) therapy to her readers. She states her IGF-1 levels were low which is why she started on this therapy. Perhaps one of her hormone specialists should have pointed out that estrogen lowers IGF-1 levels. She might be interested in the fact that IGF-1 is a hormone that speeds up aging – it is not an anti-aging hormone. People should also be aware that it is illegal to give this hormone for anti-aging purposes; it is only allowable for documented growth hormone deficiencies.

Let me now address some of the critics of Suzanne Somers. They claim that bio-identical hormones are not FDA approved. Wrong. All compounded hormones put out by compound pharmacies are FDA approved. Upjohn Pharmaceuticals was producing FDA approved bio-identical hormones 70 years ago (and most physicians are still not aware of them).

Critics say that it is better to go with known medications such as Premarin, which are “safer”. In point of fact, all estrogens (except bio-identical estriol) are unsafe. The first 10 years Premarin was on the market, they estimate somewhere between 200,000 and 2,000,000 women got uterine cancer.

Bio-identical hormone therapy, although in existence for 70 years, is still in its infancy. Ms. Somers is in the position of receiving the kind of ridicule that Semmelweiss and Lister received a hundred years ago when they suggested that doctors should wash their hands prior to surgery. I salute her for her courage. I would recommend that she educate herself about hormones. They are extremely potent chemicals and must be used in a safe, logical manner.

Eventually, she may get to the full realization of the potential bio-identical hormones have for healing. They control every system of the body and are major determinants of our health. A person should not be waiting for the menopause or andropause to get their hormones in balance.

Losing Weight With Hypnosis

October 29th, 2008 by admin

Losing Weight With Hypnosis

Controlling your weight and avoiding weight gain as you get older are important ways to prevent a host of weight-related health problems. Indeed, if you are more than 20 pounds over your ideal weight, you are at greater risk for a rogues’ gallery of potentially deadly conditions, including diabetes, high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, endometrial cancer, obstructive sleep apnea, and breast cancer. What’s more, most people who are overweight tend to avoid exercise, and that avoidance just adds to the toll paid for extra pounds. If you have a sedentary lifestyle and are overweight, you are at a higher risk of cardiovascular disease and other health problems. And, if you already have a medical condition such as high cholesterol, being overweight puts you at higher risk for complications. The good news is that even modest amounts of weight loss can improve your health significantly. Loss of 10% of body weight can reduce blood pressure, high cholesterol, triglyceride, and high blood sugar levels. Today, there are many procedures that can contribute and help people loss weight effectively. One of the known procedure in losing weight is through hypnosis. However, many misconceptions have come up with regards to the application of hypnosis in losing eight. And because it does not involve drugs or any kinds of medications and surgery, many people tend to think that losing weight through hypnosis seems to be one of the safest weight loss program. To know more about hypnosis and its effects on losing weight, here is a list of some facts that will give you an insight about what it can do to your body weight. 1. Hypnosis can be an imminently risky if not done properly and not utilize by people who are highly trained with the real concept of hypnosis. Even if many people tend to think that hypnosis will not pose imminent danger to their health, still, it is important to know that the person who will do the procedure is skilled enough and that he or she knows what factors to consider before doing the procedures. 2. Hypnosis alone cannot eliminate excess fat from the body and, therefore, make somebody lose weight. Most health experts contend that hypnosis should only be a part of a whole assimilated process. It should never be used as the sole weight loss procedure. Moreover, one session of hypnosis will only have very minimal results on an individual’s weight. When losing weight, hypnosis matched with psychotherapy will be more effective than hypnosis alone. This is because hypnosis is only a state of deeply relaxing the mind, in which one can still be in control of his or her own body. 3. Hypnosis is one way of getting into the subliminal state of a person. When a person is on the “hypnotic stage,” the body is more responsive to suggestibility because of its intensified state of concentration. However, this does not necessarily mean that through hypnosis, one can already “reprogram” the mind of an individual. In reality, hypnosis can only run the range from trouble-free relaxation condition to proper initiation managed by a professional hypnotists. Hence, it should not be considered paranormal and magical in its upshots. Boiled down, people should be more aware that hypnosis is not a sole effective process in losing weight. It is more of a facilitator of various treatment techniques. Therefore, it should be combined with other weight loss management program to be effective in making people lose excess weight. In this manner, people will be able to lose more weight with a more relaxed and refreshed state of mind. As they say, a healthy mind is a healthy body.

Breast Cancer Symptoms To Watch For

October 29th, 2008 by admin

Breast Cancer Symptoms To Watch For

No matter how old a woman is she can become a breast cancer victim. This is why it is crucial to know about breast cancer symptoms and what to do if you have any of them. Although specific symptoms can indicate breast cancer your doctor is the only one who can certainly let you know. If you believe you may have some of the following breast cancer symptoms it makes sense to schedule an appointment with your doctor as soon as possible.

The first breast cancer symptom is usually a lump. This lump will feel different than the tissue that surrounds it. Because this is the first of the breast cancer signs it’s important to get in the habit of doing a regular self exam. This can go a long way to early detection. You should also have regular mammograms. The earlier it is detected the higher your chances of beating this terrible disease.

Besides a lump, there are other signs of breast cancer to be on the lookout for. Changes in breast size or shape should be brought to your doctor’s attention without delay. Dimpling of the skin around the breast is another sign of concern. Nipples becoming inverted or expressing discharge are other signs that your doctor should be made aware of immediately.

Other diseases can sometimes indicate the more likely presence of breast cancer. Paget’s disease is one such example. Paget’s disease is characterized by changes in the breast such flaking around the nipples and redness of the breast. As the disease progressives, signs include itchy skin around the breast, breast tenderness, pain, and a burning sensation. It is very important to alert your physician to any such changes.

Occasionally other symptoms can be a sign of breast cancer. Unexplained and rapid weight loss is sometimes caused by breast cancer. Unexplained fever and chills that do not go away within a few days can also be a symptom. Bone or joint pains, jaundice and different neurological symptoms can occasionally be signs as well so keep an eye on those things.

One thing to remember is most of the time symptoms of breast cancer do not actually turn out to be cancer. However, this doesn’t mean that you should not be serious with any symptoms that do occur. What it does mean is that you need to be certain to tell your doctor about them so he can look at them and tell you what is happening, there is no need to be overly alarmed. Just make sure to make an appointment with your doctor to get any symptoms checked.

Breast Pain Happens To More Women Than We Realize

October 29th, 2008 by admin

Breast Pain Happens To More Women Than We Realize

It is very common for those experiencing breast pain to be concerned that it is a symptom of breast cancer. Of course this may be the case, but there really is no need to be concerned, the best thing to do is to get it checked by your doctor as soon as you can, and get a mammogram done. This will help your doctor to know if there are any lumps in your breast that do need to be checked out.

When talking with your doctor about any breast pain you might be experiencing, it is important to be very specific. When you have these pains you should make mental notes on the source of the pain, the intensity of the pain, the duration of the pain, and the level of the pain. To ensure that you can remember as many details as possible, it is advised that you write them down for accuracy.

If you are having breast pain don’t feel as though you are alone. It’s been shown that 1 in 10 women have pain in their breast, ranging from moderate to severe, more than five days in a given month. It can last all the way through a woman’s menstrual cycle. This type of experience happens mostly among younger women but can be experienced by women of any age.

As you might expect, many women who experience breast pain fear that they have may have developed breast cancer. It is wise to have regular breast exams by your physician to set your mind at ease. You can also do a self-assessment, in which you check your breasts for any abnormalities yourself. You can learn how to do this by checking online or asking your physician to show you.

The positive news is that pain in one’s breast hardly ever means cancer. There are many reasons why you may have breast pain. The most likely culprit pertains to the reproductive hormones. Your monthly menstrual period can bring with it breast tenderness and/or soreness. This kind of pain usually affects both breasts.

It is evident that breast pain can have a variety of causes. If you have consulted with your physician to be sure that the pain is not the result of any serious condition, there are a few things you can do to relieve breast pain. The easiest thing to do is to take a non-prescription pain medication. Often this will resolve the problem. Possibly a bra that offers more support would be helpful too.

Diseases From Smoking

October 29th, 2008 by admin

How deadly is a cigarette? Before you light up, read the list below. They’re the diseases that come from smoking.

Whether or not you contract these ailments depends on several factors: the number of cigarettes you smoke, the tar and nicotine content of the cigarettes, and the depth of inhalation.

But one thing’s for sure. Smoking is bad for your health no matter how you look at it. If you’re a smoker, it’s best to quit now before it’s too late.

Lung cancer - Many deaths from lung cancer are caused by smoking. This is not surprising since tobacco smoke is loaded with carcinogens that damage the lungs of smokers.

Still, aggressive advertising and marketing efforts of the tobacco industry have increased the number of smokers, especially women, in recent years. This has greatly contributed to a fivefold jump in the rate of lung cancer among women.

“Lung cancer is the most preventable cancer killer of women. By the mid-1980s, 30 years after an explosion in the number of women smokers in this country, lung cancer was killing more American women than breast cancer. In 1987 the disease killed 44,000 American women. Almost two-thirds of all female lung cancer deaths occur among women who currently smoke one pack or more daily, or who have quit within the last five years. Nine out of 10 lung cancer deaths occur in women with some history of regular cigarette use,” revealed Dr. Sidney M. Wolfe and the Public Citizen Health Research Group in “Women’s Health Alert.”

In addition to this, smoking causes other cancers as well. These include cancers of the mouth, larynx, the kidney, bladder, and cervix. The latter is apparently caused by carcinogens which concentrate in the cervix and later trigger the development of cancer.

“Cancer of the cervix is strongly associated with cigarette smoking, especially if the habit was taken up in the early teens or sooner. The cause is apparently the smoke carcinogens carried to the uterine epithelium by the circulation. Many young and middle-aged women die or are rendered sterile by surgery,” according to Kurt Butler of the Quackery Action Council of Hawaii and Dr. Lynn Rayner of the John A. Burns School of Medicine, University of Hawaii in “The Best Medicine.”

“The total of tobacco-related deaths due to cervical and lung cancers in women exceeds he total of tobacco-related deaths due to lung cancer in men,” they added.

Emphysema - is another lung disease that comes from smoking. In this condition, the tiny air passages (alveoli) of the lungs lose their normal elasticity and are injured or destroyed. The tar in cigarettes is responsible for this. This gives the smoker shortness of breath, a persistent cough, and a rounded or “barrel” chest.

“The alveoli eventually disintegrate into nonfunctioning scar tissue worthless for breathing. The damage is irreversible. Smoking is by far the most important single cause of emphysema,” Butler and Rayner said. (Next: Smoking and impotence.)

Since smoking cause wrinkles, quit now before you destroy your face. One product that can help is the Rejuvinol AM/PM Botox Alternative Age-Defying System. This anti-aging system has two powerful components: the Rejuvinol morning moisturizer that creates firmer, healthier, and younger-looking skin; and the Rejuvox night cream that reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Information on Lymphedema

October 29th, 2008 by admin

Information on Lymphedema

Lymphedema, also spelled lymphoedema. Lymphedema is the chronic swelling or feeling of tightness in the arm or hand due to an accumulation of lymphatic fluid in the soft tissue of the arm. The condition arises when lymph vessels, which normally carry excess fluid out of the limbs and back into central circulation, have had their flow interrupted. Lymphedema is a common complication of cancer and cancer treatment and can result in long-term physical, psychological, and social issues for patients. Lymphedema may be inherited (primary) or caused by injury to the lymphatic vessels (secondary). Lymphedema is most often seen after lymph node dissection, surgery and/or radiation therapy, in which harm to the lymphatic system is caused during the treatment of cancer, most eminently breast cancer. Lymphedema may also be associated with accidents or certain diseases or problems that may inhibit the lymphatic system from functioning properly. In tropical areas of the world, a common cause of secondary lymphedema is filariasis, a parasitic infection. It can also be caused by a compromising of the lymphatic system resulting from cellulitis. Lymphedema can develop in any part of the body or limb. Signs or symptoms of lymphedema to watch out for comprise: a full sensation in the limb, skin feeling tight, decreased flexibility in the hand, wrist or ankle, difficulty fitting into clothing in one specific area, or ring/wristwatch/bracelet tightness. Lymphedema is aggravated by prolonged standing, pregnancy, obesity, hot weather, and the menstrual period. Treatment for lymphedema varies depending on the severity of the edema and the degree of fibrosis of the affected limb. The most important aspect of treatment is learning how to care for your health. The most common treatments for lymphedema are a combination of complete decongestive therapy, compression bandaging, and the employ of solidity garments. Lymphedema is also treated by physical ways and with medication. Physical methods include supporting the arm or leg in a raised position, manual lymphatic drainage, wearing bandages or custom-fitted clothing. Prevention is better than cure. Maintain your ideal body weight. Eat foods high in fiber such as whole-grain breads, cereals, pasta, rice, fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat a variety of foods to get all the nutrients you require.
