Weight Loss Cure Book- They Don’t Want You to Know About

October 24th, 2008 by admin

I had lost hope in losing weight!! I weighed in at 280lbs and 40% body fat a year ago and all signs of bad health started to set in. I used to sweat like a faucet, snored like a train and had to take a pause on every floor climbing to my sixth floor apartment.

The doctor told me I would soon start having cardiac problems if I didn’t do something about my weight.

It was either I lose the weight or I would have a cardiac arrest at 25 years. I knew I had to do something. And fast. I started with the Atkins diet and actually lost some 15lbs in the first 4 weeks.

I was over the moon. But then everything reached a plateau. I was not gaining any weight neither was I loosing any. I was at that dreaded fitness plateau when all you do is eat cabbage and carrots and nothing gives.

After 5 more weeks with the diet regimen, I lost hope and gave in again. I completely stopped dieting and started my earlier bad eating behavior. Bad call!

In two weeks after the Atkins diet regimen stopped working for me, I had gained 30lbs. How on earth did I end up getting even fatter than when I started?

I looked into the internet for a workable fat loss program. I looked high and low. I prowled over hundreds of websites that offer methods of burning fat and building muscles.

I needed some killer abs if I was to improve my self esteem and start dating again.

It is then I stumbled onto this guy, Tom Venturo’s program. Tom is a body builder who has mastered the art of converting body fat into hard lean and tight body muscle.

The guy has been in the industry for more than 25 years. He has a BSc. degree in exercise science, is a certified strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS) and a certified personal trainer (NSCA-CPT).

Tom is also a member of the International Society for Sports Nutrition (ISSN), the American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the National Strength And Conditioning Association (NSCA).

He has been a competitive bodybuilder and won three state and three regional championships. He even went as far as 2nd place in the Mr. Natural USA and 2nd in the Mr. Natural North America contests.

I joined his program immediately. Not because he had all these great fitness instructor qualifications but because of only one thing. He had never used supplements, performance enhancement drugs or any of that stuff that messes you up.

Tom is a natural muscle development expert, pure and simple. He has used himself as a guinea pig to get to where he is.

I came to learn a very important thing that most people looking for ways to lose weight and burn fat into muscle didn’t know.

And that is, how to work with your metabolism to your advantage. You actually do not have to live in a gym for the rest of your live.

That is the reason most people trying to lose body fat end up gaining more, just like I did. Over 95% of all diets fail to deliver weight loss.

The 5% who are successful are the ones that manage to make their body metabolism rate work with them.

I was on Tom’s program for 4 weeks and I lost 20lbs. I have been following the body fat reduction program for close to a year now and I weigh in at 180lbs and 11% body fat measured by a waist pinch.

Now that is some success story. And I’m not done yet. I have just started a body toning program after successfully turning my fat to muscle and I’m revving to go.

One thing is true, just like my trainer, Tom Venturo, my mouth has never tasted a supplement ever since. These supplement companies have been using very compelling language and promises to make you believe their formulas work. You probably spend $100-300 a month on supplements.

Now I ask you, have they worked for you? I’m sure they haven’t and guess what, they won’t. Its time you considered a natural fat loss program and none other is as popular as what I’m recommending to you right now. Take it or leave it, it’s your fat… I lost mine a year a go with Tom.

Health, There Is Vision After Cataract Surgery

October 23rd, 2008 by admin

The evolution of cataract surgery has changed significantly over the years. It began with simply opening a large wound to remove the cataract, and then closing the hole leaving a void where the natural lens was. The only way a patient could then see was with the aid of very thick post surgical eye glasses. Eventually, contact lenses were developed that would correct the high power required to permit these folks to see well after surgery. With the invention of the post cataract implant, these thick eye glasses and contact lenses became obsolete. Intraocular implants were initially developed with the goal of correcting distance vision, but still required eyeglasses to permit near vision. As time passed, an implant was needed that would permit both distance and near vision without the need for reading glasses. The first multi focal implant attempts were very poor, and were quickly discarded as useless appliances. With almost 3 million cataract surgeries being performed annually, and that number expected to double in the next 5-10 years, better alternatives needed to be introduced. A very promising implant that permits both distance and near vision is the Crystalens by Bausch and Lomb. Unlike standard multifocal implants, the Crystalens is an accommodative lens that changes focus as the individual needs to see up close, or far away. It works on the premise that best simulates the natural lens’ ability to accommodate when reading is attempted. That is to say, the lens flexes forward when reading, and backward when viewing in the distance. This implant does however have its limitations. Most surgeons are happy when the implant achieves 20/30 in the distance, and some clarity at near. This ability for the Crystalens to change focus is accomplished with the aid of the eye’s cilliary body; which pulled on the eye’s natural lens prior to its extraction resulting in its change in thickness. The cilliary body muscle continues to function throughout life and has even demonstrated greater contractile force after cataract surgery. The Crystalens is attached surgically to this muscle to assist in its function. As this muscle contracts and rotates, the implant flexes and it alters the anterior chamber depth which results in the internal gel of the eye (vitreous) moving forward. Current research has shown that a 1 mm anterior movement will result in an increase of 1.3 diopters in accommodative ability. The Crystalens implant has hinges which allow the implant greater flexibility to move for accommodation. The Crystalens AT- 45 had a 4.5 mm optic zone, while the Crystalens 5.0 has a 5 mm optic zone. These implants do work quite well, but still received patient complaints of poor near and night vision. The latest development is the Crystalens HD which supports a 5.0 OZ and increases the center thickness to 1.5 mm in the central zone of the lens. This increase in thickness permits a greater arching of the lens and thus better near focusing. The results have been outstanding according to Dr Thierry Hufnagel, a New York eye surgeon at the Stahl Eye Center. This increase in accommodative arching appears to be the answer to better near vision with these post cataract patients. The FDA’s trial of this lens implant has demonstrated at least 2.OO diopters of accommodation in most patients (enough to read at arm’s length), and as much as 4.00 diopters of accommodation in some of these patients. An additional benefit of this new lens is a decrease in poor night vision as well. This article is written by Dr. Jay Stockman, editor of VisionUpdate.net. Dr. Jay Stockman, with his partner Dr. Brian Lewy has co managed a significant amount of refractive surgery patients. Advise, and medical questions can be directed to New York Vision Associates

Are You Poisoning Yourself With What You Eat?

October 20th, 2008 by admin

There is a difference between good trans fats and bad trans fats. The bad trans fats have been shown to cause heart disease, cancer, and diabetes..but there is some proof that the good trans fat can aid you in getting a leaner body, muscle building, and cancer determent. Learn about the difference.

I just received the results of my annual physical exam the other day. The doctor said that my cholesterol was too high. It was lower last year by 10 points! How can it be too high this year? Anyway he wanted to put me on drugs to get it lower.

Now I%26#8217;ve been reading a lot lately about cholesterol, what causes it, and how best to lower it. I decided I would try to find a way to lower it without the drugs. I knew that the drugs could possibly cause liver damage. GREAT, not what I wanted.

Have you noticed all the side effects of almost any drug on the market? Scares me into trying to learn all I can and to find alternatives to the drugs.

My research led me to trans fats. Just what are trans fats and where do they come from. Aren%26#8217;t trans fats in any form bad for you?

There is a difference between good trans fats and bad trans fats. The bad trans fats have been shown to cause heart disease, cancer, and diabetes, but there is some proof that the good trans fat can aid you in getting a leaner body, muscle building, and cancer determent.

Over the last few years it has been stated in the news just how bad synthetic trans fats are for your health. These substances are some of the most offensive food additives and are found in the majority of all processed and fast foods on the market these days.

In their degree of danger to your health, man-made trans fats are as bad as smoking. They are one of the major factors for the outbreak of heart disease since about the 1950%26#8217;s.

The FDA has required that food manufacturers list the grams of trans fat on all nutrition labels. You now have an easier way to avoid packages with trans fat included in them.

I wanted to clear up some things, specifically about bad trans fats vs. good trans fats, with all of the talk about trans fats in the news. If you%26#8217;ve never heard of good trans fats before, let me explain.

The Good Trans Fats

The good trans fats are all natural and they are healthy for you. Natural trans fats are produced in the stomachs of animals like cattle, and sheep and make their way into the fat reserves of the animals. Therefore, the milk fat and the fat within the meat of these animals can supply natural healthy trans fats.

Natural trans fats in your diet have been thought to have some possible benefit to assist in both muscle building and fat loss attempts. However, keep in mind that the amount of healthy trans fats in the meat and dairy of animals is greatly lowered by their grain diets and methods of farming. Meat and dairy from grass-fed, free-range animals always have much higher amounts of these favorable fats.

One trans fat is called c

onjugated linoleic acid and has been retailed by many weight loss companies. Keep in mind that these man-made CLA pills may not be the top way to get natural trans fats in your diet, because they are artificially made from plant oils. Once again, man-made just doesn%26#8217;t compare to the benefits of natural sources.

The Bad Trans Fats

The bad trans fats are the man-made kind. Any artificially hydrogenated oils exemplify these. Margarine, shortening, and hydrogenated oils that are in most processed foods are the culprits. These hydrogenated oils are considerably processed using harsh chemical solvents like hexane (a component of gasoline), high heat, and pressure.

They have a metal catalyst added, and are then deodorized and bleached. A small amount of the solvent is allowed to stay in the finished oil. Somehow the FDA still lets the food manufacturers put this in our food in vast quantities, even with the well-documented health dangers.

These hydrogenated oils cause irritation internally, which signals cholesterol as a healing agent to be deposited on artery walls. Heart disease has blown out of proportion since this has been added to our food supply.

Soon science will unveil how fatal these oils really are. Eventually they will be banned from use. The labeling laws were simply the first step. Some countries around the world have already banned the use of hydrogenated oils in food manufacturing.

Most companies are replacing them, with highly refined polyunsaturated oils. These are still over processed oils using high heat, solvents, deodorizers, and bleaching agents. Even refined oils are known to yield irritation in your body…a far cry from natural sources of healthy fats.

Your body will bless you as you avoid highly processed foods completely and choose whole, natural, minimally processed foods.

Keep in mind that if an amount of trans fat is listed on a meat or dairy product, it is most likely the natural good trans fats that we%26#8217;ve talked about here. Otherwise, if the quantity of trans fat is listed on any processed foods, it is most likely the hazardous unwholesome fat from artificially hydrogenated oils.

Please stay away from these fats! Now that all of your labels should be listing grams of trans fat it will be easy to spot the bad trans fats.

Stay away from any food that lists hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils as an ingredient. Your body will thank you for it.

I hope you will use this information to arm yourself with more wholesome food choices for a healthier body. This was an intriguing look at good trans fat vs. bad trans fat that I hope you keep in mind while making food choices.

How To Look Great Without Losing Weight

October 20th, 2008 by admin

If you are only fairly to slightly overweight, you do not need to lose those extra 20 to 50 pounds to look great. All you need to do is convert those fat weight to muscle weight.

First of all, you do not need to lose weight to have a great body, you only need to convert that body fat to muscle tissue and you would have a body that people would be envious of. So, how do you get this god-like body when you are fairly or even slightly overweight? Furthermore, I%26#8217;m not talking about building a body like those of professional body builders. I%26#8217;m talking about building a nice, toned, and healthy body.

So, how do you do this without losing weight? First, the same weight in muscle tissue is much smaller than the same weight in fat tissue. Another way of putting it is… let%26#8217;s say you have one pound of fat tissue and one pound of muscle tissue side by side for comparison. The muscle tissue is much denser and much smaller in size than the fat tissue. Some numbers I%26#8217;ve seen is that muscle is 18% denser than fat tissue and another number is that fat tissue of the same weight of muscle is 3 times as large. Years ago when I went to the gym, there was a model mockup of this comparison at the personal trainers counter. I do not remember the numbers that model mentioned, only that it talked about the same issue.

Now let us get to the part that most of you want to know, how to achieve this. Do you lift weights to build the muscle or do cardio exercises to burn off the fat? The answer is a bit of both. Many guys I know only weight lift and find themselves gaining weight without looking any better. The reason for this is that they are building muscle but they are building it underneath the fat tissues, so technically, they are not burning off the fat tissue as fast as gaining muscle tissue. For some reason, most guys do not think about doing cardio type exercises bu

t these are the best exercises to do to burn off the fat.

The best way to achieve these results is to do a mixture of weight training and cardio exercises. For weight training, 1 to 2 sets of 12 to 15 reps will suffice for each body part. You do not need to do heavy weight training, just enough weight to exercise the muscle and it%26#8217;s important to do both the upper body and lower body during the same session. Most weight lifters will alternate with doing the upper body one day, then the lower body the next day. We%26#8217;re not going for the same results so I suggest one day of a full body workout in weight training, then the next day doing nothing but cardio. Usually, the old adage is to do 3 sets of 12 to 15 reps if you are only doing the upper body or the lower body. But, we are doing the whole body in one session so you want to spread out your energy for the whole body by only doing 2 sets for each area.

For cardio workouts, you have a lot of options. The funny thing is that most guys don%26#8217;t want to be caught doing aerobics even though that is one good cardio workout. The other options are swimming, boxing, and any other non-conventional aerobic type exercises. Basically, the goal of cardio exercises is to work the whole body with little to no resistance and get the heart pumping. Have you ever seen an overweight water polo player? No! By swimming laps, you work the whole body. It%26#8217;s like doing weight training with very little weight and reps that count into the hundreds, if not thousands. This doesn%26#8217;t build big muscles but it will burn off the fat very well.

So why not just do cardio to burn off the fat? Well, do you want to look skinny or toned with a bit of muscle?

Take the Guesswork Out Of Your Flat Stomach Exercise Routine

October 18th, 2008 by admin

Take the Guesswork Out Of Your Flat Stomach Exercise Routine
by Stephen Cauldry

Laura tossed her fitness magazine to the floor in frustration, shaking her head. She had a wedding to attend in four weeks, in a drop-dead gorgeous dress that had been fitted six months ago. Unfortunately, she put on a few extra pounds that seemed to be rather attached to her abdominal area, and she needed to lose belly fat fast. Unfortunately, every exercise magazine she looked at claimed the next, best, and greatest abs workout for optimal success. Who to believe? There wasn’t enough time in the day to do every single ab exercise listed in her magazines, and she needed results fast.

Ab Workout Know How

When it comes to abdominal workouts, people need to realize that targeting specific muscle groups will work a lot better if you also follow a well balanced and nutritious diet, drink plenty of water, and work overall body muscle groups into your workout plan. For example, you can’t have flatter abs without having a strong back. Some of the best exercises to help you achieve sexy abs and a flat stomach include but are not limited to:

Pilates

Walking

Treadmill workouts

Aerobic workouts

Core stability workouts

Yoga

When it comes to working the abs, women need to target multiple areas of the abdomen, including the rectus abdominus, that muscle group that runs from between the breastbone and the pelvic girdle, as well as the external obliques (along the sides of the abdomen). To get rid of love handles fast, women are encouraged to follow a belly fat diet rich in fiber and low on red meat.

Get Where You’re Going, Fast

If you’re like Laura and need to make big changes in a short amount of time, there are ways to achieve sexy abs in as little as four to six weeks, but it’s going to come with a lot of effort and determination. By combining a belly fat diet with exercises that work muscles to encourage a flat stomach, you can achieve those sexy abs, lose belly fat, and feel great all at the same time.

Vince DelMonte offers information on how to incorporate target specific abdominal workout exercises to focus on trouble spots while at the same time encouraging overall body exercises, nutrition plans, and support to help you achieve all your goals.

Just so you know, Laura took their advice and did achieve her goals, with one week to spare. Her dress was a hit, and she feels and looks great!

Ancient “Magic Fruit” Supports Diabetic Weight Loss Confirmed By Scientists Article - Health Articles

October 17th, 2008 by admin

Thousands of years ago, in a part of the world now called Asia, ancient tribal bush people discovered a “Magic Fruit”. It looked like a small, yellowish pumpkin. But after trying it, they found it had a sweet, somewhat acidic flavor.

They also found that by eating this wild-growing fruit they were less hungry and stayed in lean fighting condition. These South Asian bush people used this discovery for their hunting trips that lasted weeks on end, when food supplies could be scarce.

Folk Wisdom?

Is this just ancient folk wisdom? According to clinical scientists at UC Berkeley, Harvard University Medical Center, Creighton University and other respected institutions, these Asian bush people had made a profound weight loss discovery.

The rind of this fruit, given the scientific name Garcinia Cambogia, has been proven in clinical tests to work well at reducing weight gain in our modern, overweight society.

Studies and Test Resulst

Test results have proven that Garcinia Cambogia clearly attacks fat in patients studied, without attacking body muscle. This is important in Type 2 diabetics. Much of their weight gain is fatty pounds that need to be dramatically reduced, while retaining muscle mass.

Studies have also confirmed that this pumpkin-like fruit helps lower cholesterol and blood pressure, two common problems associated with people that are diabetic.

Is this a “Magic Fruit”? If an all-natural ingredient can lower diabetic weight, keep muscle mass intact and help restore healthy cholesterol and blood pressure levels, then yes, it is magical!

How does it work?

The dried fruit rind of Garcinia cambogia is a rich source of HCA, and has also been used in more recent centuries as a spice, flavor-enhancer, preservative and digestive aid throughout Southeast Asia.

Thus, it has a long history of consumption by the peoples in countries where the plant is native. Structurally, HCA is similar to the common food additive citric acid, which also occurs naturally in citrus fruits such as oranges and lemons. Some forms of HCA have demonstrated a much higher bioavailability in humans; so all HCA is not equal.

A primary mode of HCA action appears to be its ability to inhibit ATP-citrate lyase, an enzyme that helps to form the building blocks of fatty acids and cholesterol.

If you want more information, look below to search “Garcinia cambogia.”
